Prayers up for ALL OUR GUYS MAN!! Herbert man I’m so sorry u gotta deal with these coaches and front office man

    lunabranwen

O line didn’t help at all

    Robert D.

@Fabio Vellozo They DID spend this OFF season . CLEARLY the SAINTS system doesn’t work [ HERE ] ! 24 games & that is REAL clear ? Our talent is NOT nearly as good as those Saints teams were across the board , BUT, the QB spot & they are just wasting his talents ! Tell , ME , if you have SEEN this movie before ?

    Julio GR

@Fabio Vellozo cheap Spanos??? They just payed JC Jackson over 80 million, Mack, DJ, etc. They spend cash on this roster. What they need to do is get a new strenght and conditioning staff.

    Catherine Raines

    @Julio GR true point!!!

    Thomas Economous

Years later Eli Manning is looking like a genius for refusing to play for the Chargers.

EkelerFan30

Herbert is obviously being effected by his injuries, so I think making him throw 50-60 times a game is definitely not the best thing to do.

    Devon

@chauncey williams Patterson is hurt though so I think that makes their running game take a hit.

    chauncey williams

@Devon true, but Seattle was missing Penny. Who when healthy is top five in the league. He might have run for 300 yesterday. It’s not so much the total. But the average 6.5 YPC. Both running backs averaged over 7 YPC

    Thomas Economous

Offensive line and RBs aren’t good enough to carry the team.

    Randall Turner

@chauncey williams re: “every team has significant injuries.” Name one hit as bad as we’ve been. Not “significant”, that could mean anything. as bad as we have.

    Randall Turner

@chauncey williams both Penny and Walker are averaging 6.1 ypc this year. Penny’s injury is a great example of an injury that didn’t hurt their team. It depends completely how much of a drop off there is. (See, Bosa to Rumph, for example.)

BIIIG BUDDHA

We NEED A WR (Speed & Route Running) Before The Trade Deadline, Nobody’s Getting Open Without Keenan Allen…

    Vic Valdez

We need that and help on D! Both looked bad. So yes OBJ, and Suh on D! Sign both to 1 year deals.

    BIIIG BUDDHA

@Vic Valdez our defense ONLY looks bad, because they’re on the field ¾th of the time. Our offense can’t even get pass a 1st down, without being 3&OUT (because no one can get open)… Lombardi is holding Herbert and this organization back, another Anthony Lynn.

    Vic Valdez

@BIIIG BUDDHA yes coaching and play calling has a role to play in this. But with that said I still agree that we need OBJ! If we don’t the Chiefs are considering it as Kelce has said he wants to play with OBJ. And Suh on defense would be a big help I feel.

    BIIIG BUDDHA

@Vic Valdez Yeah, also have to take in the dead-cap that we have. I think we have like 6mil the last time I checked. (Months ago)

    Thomas Economous

@chauncey williams Mike williams is not gone for the year. He has an ankle sprain which takes about 4-6 weeks to heal.

SDPuller

I just watched the highlights and noticed we were always in 3rd and 10+. What the heck were we doing on 1st and 2nd? O.C. Is terrible and we got out physical all game. I could see it just from the highlights

    Bolt Squad

Well this game we would be 2nd and 5 and then run a wr tunnel screen and lose yrds tbh

    Jeff Young

Same soft line play on both sides of the ball. All these new players and nothing’s changed.

    Moses Moua

Check down to Bandy negative yds, run for loss, holding.

    Robert D.

Running up the MIDDLE of the line OR doing our NORMAL -5 [ BANDY ] to 5 yard SWING PASSES !

R C

A lot of things to discuss with Coach Staley:

1. We all thought Herbert would level up having the same OC two years in a row but it actually looks like he’s regressed. He played better under Steichen as a ROOKIE!
2. Why do you keep all your starters in late in the game esp when you got significant injuries piling up in an unwinnable game but….(see item 3)
3. …you take your star players out like KA, Mike, and Ek out on 3rd and long and rely on practice squad guys to make plays? Those guys don’t get paid the big bucks to be standing on the sideline on money downs.
4. Offensive scheme sucks, defense still sucks too.
5. The Chargers always get their 🍑 kicked wearing the Navy unis (vs. NE, BUF, LV, and SEA = 0-4)
6. Give Shane Day a shot at OC

    BABY U

Anthony Lynn Shane Steichen n Pep Hamilton

    Devon

@Shoot It Up ! Keenan is never hurt what are you smoking?? Aside from the injury early in his career and this year im fairly certain he’s consistent with 100+ catches and 1000+ yards.

    Shoot It Up !

@Devon Keenan gets hurt a lot bro. Since college look up his injury history

    Dave Czarnik

    Staley is BEYOND overrated

    Randall Turner

@Shoot It Up ! re: Shane Steichen – yep, Herbert averaged 7.2 ypa under Shane. Then next year with Lombardi, his attempts went way up, his total yardage over 5,000, but his yards per attempt dropped to… 7.3

From 7.2 to 7.3 : something’s wrong with the theory. Guys. He’s injured. (Along with half the WRs and OLine.)

Sebsav619

Herbert deserves better man I feel for bad for our QB. This team is way too talented to be losing games like this. This coaching staff just isn’t good enough, they’ve made their off season moves to try to prove that Staley is a defensive guru but I don’t see it I’m sorry. Chargers fans are sick and tired of seeing great chargers teams flop!!! “It’s early your being negative” 😂 we are almost half way through The season with an even tougher second part of the schedule im tired of the excuses this staff isn’t good enough.

    Jeff Young

    Amen

    Moses Moua

If Rivers has a talk with Herbert he going to 49ers 😂 Rivers been thrown under the bus for years and now people finally see the truth. Rivers weak arms/ not mobile and now Herbert has all those tools this team still falls short.

    Sebsav619

@Moses Moua ohh yea rivers had a bad O line for a good portion of his career, another legend that deserved more. They had cromartie, Phillips’s, merriman, rivers, gates, Tomlinson, Vincent, etc. and could not make it past the pats every year lol. This season reminds a lot of that major talent major let downs.

    Jordan Johnson

Nah. Not sick. Not “sick.” /

    Leno

    well said 🥲

Rubén Gudiño

Staley es un tipo con suerte le dieron un Ferrari para aprender a manejar….

CrimsonSoldier

Defense is Staleys specialty…but he is not coaching a well designed defense. We cant stop anybody

Sam Calderas

Get Lombardi out now during the bye week and have Shane Day take over. At least we will try under him more than we will Lombardi who always gives out those quick three and outs, to the point where the defense are getting tired and getting injured and being outscored every game. The defense tries to bail Lombardi out as Lombardi leaves his position in the booth and goes to lunch.

Enough is enough, get him out now!

    Robert D.

1MILLION % agree with you ! OR this season is ALL over , play for BETTER picks next year FOR JOE to waste some MORE years on !

Devin O'SULLIVAN

PLay calling is at the core of all the problems. We cant stop the run because we cant put up a big enough lead that they have to throw it. They can run and run and wear us out. Herbo is still hurt and can’t make all the throws/moves he wants to. Very sad, cuz I thought this was OUR year.

    Howard Strike

Defense did far better than the damn scoreboard showed, I don’t blame the damn defense after being on the field the whole damn game, 3 and out after 3 and out after 3 and out. Fucking offensive abomination.

    docg3939

I think this comment nails it, I know everybody points at the defense but they can only make so many plays when the offense has tons of three and outs and no points on the board.

    Robert D.

AND I’ll [ ADD ] they FEW games we DO get a big lead , Raiders , Chiefs & Texans . OC , goes into his step – dads play calling then , set on the lead , instead of GOING in for the KILL ! Cant score at ALL in the 1st & 3rd OR get a lead & set on it ! The WAY things are setting up in the AFC this year , POINTS scored is a tie breaker & it’s FUNNY on how the OTHER teams don’t STOP trying to score on us , is it !

Daniel

Our team looks more like a Jv team than an elite team under Staley these last 2 years. Blown out by any competent coach we face. See yuh Staley!

    Fuego Lifts

Like I said, we celebrating petty wins, what about putting in the work and celebrating being great. Hate to say it, but look at machines and the chiefs after point deficits.. still bolts gang though⚡️

    Neji

That’s giving them too much credit

    Thomas Economous

@Cruz Staley brought in Lombardi and the defensive coordinator. He hasn’t replaced them after 1.5 years of terrible performance. Staley should be fired for that alone. Not to mention his questionable game management.

    Garse70

Getting behind 17-0 doesn’t help. It’s tough to win throwing 50+ passes per game. Teams can key on the pass and it makes it difficult for any QB.

    Randall Turner

@Catherine Raines anyone calling Herbert overrated might as well just have a “casual” name tag. 🙄

hibbMTFC

Great start in the first quarter having the early turnover. Just a shame we didn’t make the 4th down with only inches to go. Could have been a different story. Fair play to Seahawks though as they defended very well throughout. We certainly have a lot of fight in us proven by our last 3 games. 17-0 down a lot of teams would have lost all confidence but we kept going. Just unfortunate we couldn’t get anything going once we got back to 17-14. We go again, let’s go Chargers!

    Randall Turner

@Shoot It Up ! We were on the Seahawks 32, it would have been a 50 yard FG try with a kicker we just signed. The decision to go for it was correct, and it wasn’t close.

    Shoot It Up !

@Randall Turner no it wasn’t. Idc who the kicker is kick the FG if he misses so be it. The Seahawks got moment from us not getting the 4th down and that changed the game. We got the INT just take the points that are available its called game management. Staley does this all the time there is no way you can convince it was a good decision

    Shoot It Up !

@Randall Turner on top of that the game just started. Why do that in the beginning of the game

    Randall Turner

@Shoot It Up ! re: “why do that at the beginning of the game” – because it increases your chance of winning the game. The amount depends on a lot of factors – chance of converting on 4th, chance of making the FG from the 32, field position if you miss the FG (around the 40), and finally improved chance of making a closer FG or scoring a TD if you convert. Which we SHOULD – a 4th and inches is way over 50%.

Is this the first time you’ve looked at 4th down calculations? Do you notice no analysts are criticizing the decision? It’s a clear “go”.

    Shoot It Up !

@Randall Turner now you sound like Staley with these fucking analytics. And you’re disregarding what I said about MOMENTUM. that changed the whole game idk how you don’t see that. I’d rather a missed FG than the team stopping us on 4th down. Are you serious rn?

JAK 31

This coaching staff sucks big!!! Felt bad for Justin and his teammates. 😢

David

The coaching really is holding us back 🤦‍♂️

    HU4L

    for real

    Romain

Y’all got rid of Anthony Lynn for this.

Josh Winn

Lombardis offense is holding us back man.

    Robert D.

Yes , On the DEFENSE side , now ! It was ALL ready last year for the OTHER side ! RIDE on JOE , into the SH#TTER !

    OGDistance

Run defense wasn’t good enough either

Adam Akemon

This game seemed to be indicative of a lot of things for me, and starts from the top down. I’ve been a fan of this team for as long as I’ve been alive and I’ve only seen 2 times where I really thought we had a shot at a SB and that was 06 and 09, but I think 06 was a very pivotal year for the ownership of the team. Firing Shottenheimer can pretty much be called a bad decision at this point, and ever since then coaching has just been a weakness. It seems our GMs tend to get lucky with QBs that fall into their laps and prolong their tenure than it should, resulting in a carousel of head coaches ultimately wasting our incredibly talented Qbs career. I see it happening all over again with Herbert. I want to believe in the Staley system, but I just don’t ever see it fully executed properly on the field. Staley is a defensive guy, and our defense is getting torched, I just can’t understand it, but I can because in the end, it’s always the Spanos’ fault for our eternal pain.

    Zennofobic

we had a shot IN the Superbowl as well and got clobbered by the Niners. 2006 was the most traumatizing season I’ve experienced however… after that I was numb to all the talent and opportunities this organization and team has wasted. I started getting hope after we drafted Herbert and then we didn’t make the playoffs last year and I’m just numb again.

    Robert D.

The BEST chance we EVER had at a SUPER BOWL win was in The Raiders/ Eagles game , BUT , couldn’t bet them at home to get there ? Tell me if you have SEEN this movie a couple of times after words ?

Jeff S

Staley’s moniker as a defensive genius has to go.

    Matthew Philpott

In his defense he never claimed he was a defensive genius, us fans kinda just gave him that title, but it’s definitely being withdrawn now

    Lonnie McNeil

I thought he was a guru, sad to waist another season like this

Dan Deitch

Staley and Lombardi are a big part of the problem. Regardless of injuries this game was embarrassing for the Chargers who haven’t been able to stop the run in yrs. The season is done for as it’s another season where we will be looking into the draft sooner then later and hopefully look in a different direction for a head coach and GM.

    Luis Rodriguez

they cant stop the run because there linebackers are smaller athletic linebackers. we dont have big fast linebackers

enemy805

Going up against veteran coaches definitely has an impact on how we look both offensively and defensively

Omicron

Wishing a speedy recovery for the injured Chargers players. I respect everyone brave enough to step on to the field at this level, knowing that injuries are almost inevitable.

Go Hawks!
