My Chiefs had similar-built teams a few years later, but never had guys with the kamikaze-stupid courage of a Jim McMahon, to play with total disregard for his health, to pull off the small number of passes or scrambles they needed to win. Jim Harbaugh had that same stupid courage, and you saw it in his coaching, and the QB he chose: Kaepernick. Kaep had that same stupid courage, but the combo of speed, size and instincts to do it week in and week out, at little physical risk to himself. Matt Cassel had that same aggressive, yet not in any danger of getting hurt, way of mixing it up as a runner, who might also pass. Both were questionable in the passing department.

I was born in 71. Been a Chiefs fan since Steve Fuller was QB. I never thought I would see the Chiefs in a Super Bowl. Then came Patrick Mahomes.
Maybe if you had a real team like the patriots, it would be a normal feeling, rookie nooblet.

Mahomes is a great talent. But this is the best team build I’ve seen since ’69.
@Dill Chives : To this day, I think KC could’ve gone farther and lasted longer if they’d finished building that offensive line for Steve Deberg. All the respect in the world for Joe Montana. But it was unfair to him to bring him into the situation that caused Deberg to fall short. Montana took worse beatings trying to make up for KC’s talent shortcomings, than he took in 10 years in San Fran.
