Think the Texans success during the JJ Watt and Hopkins years was relatively good…but they were never “contenders”. Injuries, quarterback carousels, other player inconsistencies kept them from winning.
NRG stadium is leased to the Texans through Feb 2032. By then, of course it will be 30 years old. It’s not a shiny gem stadium anymore like it was in 2002…that’s Allegiant and SoFi today. Instead, it’s old and outdated. Caserio’s GM decisions now could play a big factor, since improvements are now going to be required! Look for San Antonio to make their bid as a city….they wanted the Texans to play in their Alamodome for the 2017 season opener after Harvey, since NRG was sheltering people.

The Texans should have never fired Rick Smith. He was the GM that drafted the top players in our franchise history.
@Straight_co_ that’s exactly it. Bill O’Brien said so. He was trying to get fired because he wanted to go back to the Patriots. He thought he would have a chance to replace Bill when he retired.
Rick also said he was coming back. We can see that didn’t happen. And Rick has interviewed for a couple of jobs. But he didn’t get hired.

Kudos to Caserio finally getting the Watson thing worked out, very difficult situation. But why to the Cleveland Browns, where they are ALSO a contender in the AFC? Shoot, he could have worked up a similar deal with Saints or Panthers. Or a bottom feeder AFC team like the Jets. Texans won’t make the wildcard for the next 3-4 years unless they win 10-11 games. At the very least, they should have gotten one of their RB’s to sweeten the pot like Kareem Hunt or Nick Chubb. Cleveland won this deal, but I think with the situation at hand, Houston wasn’t going to win in the Watson trade with anybody. Unfortunate, and any success they’re going to get is going to be draft picks…and developing them. Forget signing vetetan free agents.
@Cody Weaver Yes, you’re right about that…Watson had all the free will to go where he wants! I just think Caserio could have done more on the back end by having those teams work out their qualifying offers better. Honestly think he was going to the Saints, until the Browns came in with that 230 mil offer lol. Either way we get peanuts out of this deal, and Cleveland gets back their 12th pick from 2017 lol.
If Caserio does everything right here on out, meaning hitting on all the important draft picks and BALLING OUT in free agency, we can very well be better than the Browns in 3-4 years.
Cleveland’s spent wayyyy too much money on Deshaun and damn near directly screwed their future when it comes to paying anybody in the future.
