Didn’t think Mooney was ever gonna start for us when he got drafted, now he’s our wide reciver 1. Velus has very similar traits, let this play out

    JaiDee JJ

    Give the kid…err…man a chance

    Ferni

@TJ 😹😹, your right about that lol

    avon Walker

@TJ how old is you?? And did you had a cane when you was 25 or 30??

    Jim George

Velus is special. Used to be a running back and is built line and plays like one. Except he has wide recieve speed. He breaks tackles like a running g back then he’s gone!

    D F

    He’s too little bitty

Acklay

Bears fans, overall are dumb af, there’s no sure hitters in the draft. Some of the most clear cut top wideouts in the draft have been the biggest busts. Let it roll, great speed.

    J Bo

@Ty Spliff thank you . Over everything else that was available.poles could’ve easily traded back and got equal or better value on all 3 picks.

    ChicagoDefense

@Ty Spliff velus has rookie of the year potential and y’all are crying about his age. It’s the same thing every year with bears fans. You’ll find something to complain about no matter what.

    Tru Savage

Slow AF most never payed a down of football but this internet makes EVERYONE a expert’

    D F

    He;s too little bitty

    Eric P.

    @ChicagoDefense I agree

Jose Ortega III

Bro nice asf 💯 don’t sleep on this pick

    J Bo

He looks slow asf on tape.

    D F

He’s too little bitty for the league.

    YoungboyXaj

    @D F he’s 6ft 200 lol what are you talking about

    Jakob Heard

    @J Bo runs a 4.3 dummy

Vincent Bernal

Welcome to Chicago. Hopefully you become a great receiver for us.

    Zenon Zamora

A positive comment????? Where am I???

    Brent James

    Go bears

James Claus

Mooney, Velus, and Pringle are all home run speedsters. Pringle is a mismatch in the slot w great hands. We now have a great CB tandem and S tandem. With a coach who won’t tolerate Eddie Jax being lazy. 2 O-line picks and 1 D-line pick and we have something. Plus a whole lotta cap space next offseason. Our OC from GB is the X-factor for our success.

    Cortez Phillips

The bears o-line is going to surprise people think about how much they line played late in the year as opposed to early physical run blocking got better in pass protection but they have to speed up the process they couldn’t block a stunt last year to save their lives . If they draft line they gotta go guard and center d line that needs a NT that’s going to control the middle of the line and free up guys like Roquan from having to shed blocks on their way to sacks. This defense and the way poles is picking is looking a lot like how the 85 bears and the early 2000’s Bucs and Ravens built their d’s

    D F

James, don’t do this to yourself bro’ we are still going to be garbage next year. Green Bay got like 3 picks in the draft before the Bears even got 1. They are going to be unstoppable.

    J Bo

    @Edric Storm BINGO

Entrenched Trader

I have a feeling Getsy will know how to utilize him well. Welcome to Chicago

    J Bo

He’ll be a return man.. and behind newsomme as wr. Don’t get excited

    Juice999

@J Bo are you the head coach? I’m also sure you’ve studied this player intently and know everything about him lol

    Brent James

Compliment Justin Fields perfectly fit pick go bears

J Sanders

He looks solid, but he was projected 4th not 3rd. Poles went defense early then panicked

    Dpugs

    Nah, this was Getsys guy

    Tony Moore

Bears don’t have a 4th. He would have been gone by 5th. Christian Watson would have been good but the packers nabbed him first. Velus had the best YAC and home run ability and instantly creates matchup problems.

Broon Squad

Love him as a great WR-Return man dual threat.

    Dpugs

Gonna be used in the run game too

Dpugs

He’s going to be used like Deebo and we’re all going to love this guy.

    Caleb Washington

    Has the build for it

    Dat Dude Tank

    Facts

    Chris Tragedia

@J Bo he will be starter probably slot .

    Chris Tragedia

@D F bitty? His is 6ft and an x running back. Fast and powerful that’s why they say he like deebo

Luke Rosenquist

Man if only we hit on Bates and Ogunjobi, id be feeling a lot better about this offseason.. but we will see how Jones turns out

    Tru Savage

We still may hit on Ogunjobi! Think improvement last year was one of the only years in my life where I literally could not stomach to watch the Bears play 🗑 🔥! We’re trending in the right direction trust me!

Swavy Chico Jr.

if this pick doesn’t work out it’s fine because we are probably going to have a top 15 pick next year and we will probably be able to pick up a true #1 receiver along with 120+ mil in cap space. i think we will make strides in 2023 and 2024.

    Antonio Logan

Yup this season is gonna be hard to watch Justin struggle cause they didn’t give him a lot to work with

    Ari Sancic

    yep

    Keym78

I think that Fields and Mooney are going to surprise a lot of people, and I give props to Poles for sticking to the plan, being patient, and not whoring away all of our draft picks the way Pace did. Plus, we might still get some quality post-drafts signings too. I wouldn’t be surprised if Ogunjobi signs for a one year “prove yourself” deal. In 2023, top tier free agents (especially receivers) will actually WANT to join the Bears again, especially with all that cap space.

    HFL Phon

    it’s gone work

    Randy Mayne

They’re gonna need a new qb

Bryght The Lyght

I’m not gonna lie.. I like the pick! I think he will have success with us!! 🐻⬇️

FOFO PLAYS

I can’t believe people are judging him off age this is a steal in the draft

    Roy Jenkins

I’ve watched him here in East Tennessee and the man can ball. He’ll be the talk of alot highlights this season. Congratulations

    Scooby is shagging Shaggy

5th round would have been a steal

Roy Jenkins

As a Vol fan living in East Tennessee just wanted to let you Bear fans know these highlights don’t do him justice. Jones is special and is always around making big plays. You all got a heck of player my friends, Enjoy The Show . God Bless

    Alfred McGlothen

I take your word for it bro. I haven’t seen him play but what I have seen through these highlights, shows he has is a burner . We definitely need a guy like that here . I love it down in Tennessee by the way .

    RichLF

@Roy Jenkins likewise they also said the same thing about our current number 1 receiver Darnell Mooney and they were wrong

    Spøøký O.o

I agree, good hands, makes good adjustments, insane break away speed. Not a bears fan but I was born in Knoxville and wish the best for him. Think he will do great in the league.

    Roy Jenkins

    @RichLF Amen

    Dom

    You rock

Troy Wilson

So it’s come to my attention that Velus Jones is still very underrated in the public eye. Here’s the simple scouting report for everyone: he makes a lot of great catches and if he still has his balance after coming down with a catch, you can expect him to gain 10+ more yards. He is so good at breaking tackles. The amount of times this season that he should’ve been tackled but somehow kept going is astonishing. If the Bears use him correctly (don’t just use him as a return man. It’ll be Cordarrelle Patterson all over again: an incredibly talented wideout not getting the chance to show out), he will be very very good for you guys

    D F

Troy, he’s too little bitty for the big leagues.

    Logan Jilek

    @D F he 205

    Troy Wilson

@D F he burned every defense he played this year, including Georgia’s here and there. I think he will hold his own in the NFL if he can handle the SEC like he has over the past couple of seasons. Can’t really look at his numbers either because Tennessee had two other big WR targets that picked up a lot of numbers. I promise his play speaks for everything. Let him do his thing and he will make some huge plays for you

Abraa10

i hope he brings that celly to chicago endzones would love to see mooney run up and doing it w him 🐻⬇️

aaron coberg

I think a 25yr old rookie with as much starting experience as this guy is the premier way to pick. His maturity is off the scale. He looks to gain knowledge in his craft and is very humble in his approach. Skill is great, but everyone knows the really good jobs want that degree. This guy gained a masters degree and maintained a high level of play. This kind of pick elevates an organization that not only makes a good immediate impact but also begins to create a culture we should expect from a Halas team.

    ragnarocking

I thought you were just waxing poetic when you said he got his Masters. But I looked it up and he _actually did_ get his Masters degree, which explains his slightly older age. And when you put his stats on the field into _that_ context, you’re right, it makes them so much more impactful and I’m excited to see what he can do when football is his literal job and not just a peripheral goal. He’s got so much physical talent… and obviously intelligence!

Landis Dillard

Velus is exactly what Fields needs. Someone who can take a short pass and make it a long gain. Playmaker. Great pick

Mega Man

Kyle long, taj Gibson, kurt warner, Cameron wake, warren moon, marine corps mike anderson, Didier drogba were all late bloomers in their sport careers. 8+ touchdown catches/16 games isn’t that crazy for someone who possesses 4.3 40 yard speed, good hands, single coverage, and a chip on your shoulder. Tennessee receivers/returners like willie gault, cordarrelle Patterson, and hopefully velus Jones is the next pro bowl volunteer for the bears.

RobPt311

I see Velus Jones as a Devin Hester clone ! I really LOVE this pick. The guy plays WR like a RB, with his yards after contact. He fights for extra yards every time he gets the ball in his hands. Also Jones can play many roles on the team; WR, RB, KR, PR, Gunner, water boy, and ticket sales…Do it all player. If Jones can develop right, than this will be looked at as a steal in 2 years. I am remembering the impact Devin Hester made to the Bears with his Special Teams plays his first 2-3 years…I am picturing the same thing with Jones. Helping Justin Fields can be starting drives at the 40 yard line when teams kick it out of bounds !!!

Another way to help Fields is getting DBs that get INTs and 3 and outs…Gordon and Brisker are BOTH studs. The secondary is solid. CB2 and SS are checked off the list.

Both of the Bears 2nd round draft picks could have been 1st Round Picks. No they are not WR or OL, but there was a run on those positions, so the value with Gordon and Brisker was too much to pass on. All 3 picks are great players that also fill needs…

Now the Bears need to draft an O Lineman, DL, and a Sam LB, and I would say they filled most of their depth holes…

After the Draft the Bears will be snagging LOTS of Undrafted Free Agents, and probably a few Vets that are cut during or after training camps…
