What I think this boils down to is an outsider representing a city like Oakland taking on the NFL establishment. Davis wasn’t going to be controlled by Rozelle & the NFL. And they HATED him for it. The fact the Raiders were winning Super Bowls & moving to LA w/o their permission made it personal for Rozelle & the NFL.
