Seriously? Not even any subtitles?

    MrZombieDrums

UnkownSoldier100 The comparison is not completely accurate though, the Steelers have a huge native Spanish speaker fan base, in fact there are a lot more Steelers fans in Mexico City that in Pittsburgh, just for naming one of the main cities, not including the rest of Mexico and other Spanish speaking countries. The fan base is big enough to create a media department in Spanish and hiring Álvaro Martín (the interviewer) the man that for many years, worked as the main NFL journalist and announcer for ESPN Latin America.
Finally, if you notice, in other videos there are not Spanish subtitles, so all the other Spanish speaking Steelers fans (arguably the 30 – 45% of the total Steelers fan base) can’t enjoy entirely this channel.
So, the media room is making a bad job? Yes, I would say they are making a terrible job not adding Spanish subtitles to the 95% of videos in this channel.

MrZombieDrums Incorrect. There are no Spanish subtitles because the Steelers are based in America, where we speak English. A video in Spanish for the Steelers is an exception, so for the English speaking fans that comprise the main body of their customer base, English subtitles should be on the video. If you follow a foreign sports team whose native language is different from yours it’s on you to learn that language if you want to understand what they are talking about. If that foreign team suddenly releases a video interview in an entirely different language with no subtitles in the usual language, you’ve made it inaccessible to the main fans for no reason.

UnkownSoldier100 There are not Spanish subtitles because the Steelers are making a bad job with their YouTube management, not because they are based on the U.S. in which by the way, Spanish is the second most spoken language. If a brand, sports league/team wants to expand to other countries, they need to make their products accessible to those other countries, just like the Steelers already did with their instagram and Twitter accounts in Spanish only. They should either dubbed the videos, make new Spanish content and create an entire new channel (like other English channels did, for example the bright side or Veritasium) or add accurate Spanish subtitles to this channel and I agree, add English subtitles for videos like this one, which is in my opinion kind of “the easy way”, because they are earning money from native Spanish speaker fans. The situation that you are describing is just a random guy interested in a Japanese team with no expansion plans or something, in which there’s not enough people interested and it’s illogical from that team to create content in another language, in that case it’s on that random guy to learn Japanese if he wants to understand what they are saying or not.

    UnkownSoldier100

MrZombieDrums Actually a separate channel for Spanish makes sense. They should just do that then.

    MrZombieDrums

UnkownSoldier100 maybe that’s the next step, considering that they are already making videos in Spanish, they just don’t have enough content jet.
It’s a shame you didn’t understood, it was a good interview.
