sending positive energy to Nick, good luck with your recovery!!

Hoping for a full recovery for these 2, with how injuries affect a team and the increase of the practice squad, having as many bodies available along the lines is gonna be necessary as the season moves along

NYG Forever

It’s a shame Lemieux got hurt so early last year and couldn’t prove himself. Hope he can solidify that left side this year and Gates fully recovers, he’s a great story

Gettlemen has been a successful GM & he drafted a lot of good individual players yet he failed the last 4 years. The main reason was because he didn’t get the Oline situated & he failed with the pass rush. Everyone from fans to reporters knew the offensive line needed to be fixed. Gettlemen explicitly stated that his main goal was to fix the Oline “once & for all.” So Gettlemen drafted Olinemen Thomas, Peart & Lemieux in one draft. They all played with varying levels of snaps & successful. The following year he inexplicably cut our best Olineman Kevin Zeitler & handed the job to the 3 second year players. Thomas struggled but being a high ceiling first rounder deserved it. Peart & Lemiux had a little experience & both struggled during their limited playing time. Handing them the job to “let the kids” play turned out to be a terrible idea. Part of it was due to injury but we lost our best Olineman. It wasn’t fair that they had multiple Oline coaches either. Guys had chances to showcase their talents & win or earn a starting spot but no one really distinguished themselves outside of Nick Gates who has shown consistent improvement & versatility. New GM Joe Schoen has done more in like 6 month on the job than Gettlemen did in over 4 years. Schoen might not have been able to add a big ticket free agent butbhe added solid veterans & depth. Also he drafted a top Olineman in Evan Neal but high ceiling players such as Ezeudu. Schoen & Daboll have basically alerted to the team that no one is guaranteed a job or a roster spot. Now we have an abundance of talent & depth. Competition will help bring out the best in these guys which I think was severely lacking during the Gettlemen/Judge era. Obviously we know & they know certain guys will start & make the roster but really it’s open season really. There is no reason that a player like OG Josh Ezeudu can’t win a roster spot & job. Not only should we have a very good & potentially great starting Oline but also depth. Gates & Lemieux could be backups which would really indicate how much better this Oline has become.

Now there is a lot of work to do & we haven’t won anything yet but John Mara & the Giants have finally cleaned house & changed things for the better. We have an excellent GM & a talented Head Coach who has a track record of success & fully capable of bringing this franchise back to the highest heights. Gettlemen might not have built a great team but he did draft a lot of good young players which are part of this young talented core. This past offseason has been good & Schoen & Daboll have created a balanced roster. They still have to grow & execute but there is talent here. I expect a much better offense & greatly improved performance all around. If these coaches can help this team gel & they get comfortable with the new schemes, there’s no reason that they cannot get on a trajectory toward success & winning. I believe we could surprise a lot of people. This team will certainly be a lot more competitive & capable. Go Giants!
