His arm doesnt look like it has allot of zip l know he isnt Lawrence but his balls wobble allot. Also allot of QB’s workout with baseball trainers too improve the arm strength and accuracy

I am a huge UT fan and think the world of Sam Ehlinger as a person. But he just doesn’t have zip on his throws…. No tight spirals and his upperbody looks too sloppy in his release. I really wish him the best. I’ve just never thought he was a NFL qb.
Sorry too say he will get drafted but by time for the cuts in training camp he is out and back working at U.T. or at Westlake and now it makes sense why the Longhorns struggled so much they have the Dallas Cowboys syndrome which is the symbol on the side of the helmet makes them think you can just show up the two biggest brands get by because of loyal fan’s that wish the glory days would comeback meaning the old Southwest Conference. Plus U.T. doesnt developed QB’S maybe now they tapped a QB whisper that will change

Tom Herman never really cared to develop arm strength, with a good QB coach he can prolly improve it by a lot

I am rooting for Ehlinger, but he is not an NFL QB. Slow release, choppy footwork, lots of accuracy issues, and a weak arm. I hope he has a good career, but I’d be shocked if he gets drafted before the 4th round. His saving grace is that he is athletic for a QB, so some teams could see value in that. Plus, he is a respected leader amongst teammates.
Yea I love Sam and what he did and accomplished but he’s lacking some zip but I don’t think it can’t be fixed.

Weak arm? Isn’t there a recent video of him throwing the ball nearly 80 yards?
Watch his 40 min documentary, they explain why he was drafted 199 in the sixth round and yes they thought he originally had a weak arm.
@Hunter Wiegenstein Brady is one of the only guys that I have seen improve his arm strength a significant amount. For some reason, when you have a weak arm, it just stays weak. Just look at guys like Will Grier and Ryan Finley. Even Minshew, who actually improved his mechanics out of college and strengthened his arm, still doesn’t have enough zip to keep his job
He’s going to get paid as late round pick (which let’s be honest is still wayyy more money than normal jobs) but I can’t see him sticking long in the NFL
I am a Longhorn fan and I hate to agree here. Probably a career 2nd-3rd stringer like his boy Colt McCoy

Seriously, he was hyped as a top 10 selection during his freshman season and has failed to grow since. Now he’s lucky to be a 5-7th round pick

Maybe hes just a pure and natural passer but it looks like he has 0 Arm Strength

i’m glad he’s moving on the NFL. now we don’t have to see ESPN post his baby picture holding up the Hook’em sign every 5 minutes and telling us the same fact over and over that Sam wanted to be a UT QB since he was a kid! (DID YOU KNOW THAT FACT???!!!!)
or cut to his mom in the stands 10 times a game. as if other kids didn’t have family in the stands.
it feels like hes trying to throw it hard and not let it loose. like if you see a top QB pro day (routes are all against air) their throws seems effortless and buttery smooth, but Sam looks like hes shotputting the ball out and trying to put a lot of power into his throws.
