Hi guys what plan for the draft πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’œπŸ’œ

Luke Thompson

Last year, Kirk Cousins was the 4th highest rated QB (PFF) when given a clean pocket. That dropped to 23rd when he was under pressure. The top priority for this team should be to maximize our plays with a top 5 QB and minimize how often we subject ourselves to a bottom 10 QB. That means improving the O-line through FA and the draft. Just replacing Elflein likely won’t be enough unless Bradbury improves a lot and O’Neill becomes elite. Josh Jones is a guy I could see us taking in the first, let him play OG this year, and then have him replace Reiff in the future.

I have to say “No” to moving Oneill to LT. Ben Leber is right; it’s not the same position. Oneill could likely do it but why? Can Udoh be a LT? If not the Vikings should Draft an LT. Interior DL and CB’s need attention too, so 2 out of the three are gonna lose out. Picking DB’s in the 1st Round is always a little more dicey than drafting OL’s and Interior DL’s. I think if you can put more pressure on the other teams QB, your DB’s look better just from that. I’d go OL and IDL in Rounds 1 and 2 in either order.

Actually drafting a OL is more of a toss up than CB… There’s data that says you’re more like to hit on OL in the 2nd or 3rd rounds. There are those excepts like Phil Loadholt.. but you’re more like to get a Matt Khalil

@Out royal I don’t think so. The draft record is pretty clear, actually. If you want an elite OL, you have to draft him in Round 1. Examples: Dallas: Travis Frederick and Tyron Smith. Green Bay: Brian Bulaga and
Sherrod–forget his last name (Martin?). Tennesee: Taylor Lewan and Jack Conklin. Pittsburgh: Maurkice Pouncey and David Decastro. True, there are OL busts in the 1st Round. You can say that for any position. You can get quality OL in Round 2. Brian Oneill is an example. But, as a good general rule, if you want an elite OL, especially LT, you gotta go 1st Round. I’m not saying the Vikings should do this; I’m just saying that, as a rule, the caliber of OL goes down after Round 1. If you want to go to a Super Bowl you need elite players, not just good ones. I’m not a football expert, but when I travel I stay at a Holiday Inn Express.

@Paolo7219 but you can find starting players in later rounds too John Sullivan, Matt Birk and Joe Berger would like to talk to you… All in all I think we can still trade back depending on what the board looks like at 25. Sure you CAN draft an OL in the 1st.. but if you think you can get him in the 2nd or a player similar to that why not trade back get a few more picks and get one of the similar graded players.

ethan Frye

Im not a draft guru but why are we considering drafting two different safeties when we had the best safety tandem in the league last year???

    Manni der Busfahrer

Because Anthony Harris is a free agent this offseason if we don’t resign him. But I’d also say a cb would be better in first round

    Da Ven

ethan Frye because we’re most likely going to lose Waynes and Alexander so we need a hybrid safety that can play both corner and safety to move around

    Out royal

We should sign or tag Harris trade back I’m the draft from 25 and see what we can get
