Another game with no INT. We all had doubt in the beginning but Rivers has exceeded expectations

    Dontno Nowuno

@Dan DeFord me and you speak the EXACT same language my friend.havnt missed a chargers game in 40 years and between terrible o-lines,subpar receivers(keenan, gates, young v.j. obviously exceptions but not like rivers wasn’t a huge reason for even their success),terrible play calling, terrible head coaches (Marty being the exception for ONE FREAKING year),terrible defensive play calling especially late in games(few exceptions 2006-2010),horrendous ref calls, injured probowl teamates in playoffs, missed big field goal after field goal and terrible incompetent ownership this man has managed to play every game, not complain once, keep his team in almost every game, complete 65 percent, close to 420 t.d.s to only 207 ints(for references compare t.d.int ratio to other hof’s.,over 63000 yards with a 95 qbr ,35 games over 500 and gets nothing but disrespect from 90 percent of the media and 50percent of fans.i put all the stats in for the idiotic fans who wouldn’t know what a great q.b. looks like without numbers involved(thanks fantasy football).Rivers is one of the best anticipation throwers of a football in my lifetime.

    Dan DeFord

@Dontno Nowuno And he’s the only QB to ever be compared to Peyton Manning in his ability to read defenses at the line and completely design plays at the line. Another couple small details, he’s one of only 3 QBs in history to have 3 complete seasons in a row with over a 100 QB rating (Steve Young, Rivers, and Peyton, Peyton did it twice though). The other thing is he’s the only QB in history to have double digit comeback wins when being down by 14+ late in games (going into the 4th quarter or later). He had 2 of these in back to back weeks on the road vs KC/Pits in 2018 (Pits literally had never lost a game a home when being up by 16+ at any point during the game until Rivers came to town that year). Rivers has 14 of these comebacks, no other QB in history even has 10 (And no, Brady doesn’t even have 5 of these).

You are pretty on point, except I’d disagree with VJ but only because I went back and watched some film on him and noticed that if Rivers didn’t throw the ball perfectly he wouldn’t even attempt to catch it. Then I looked at his completion percentage when Rivers was throwing to him compared to any other QB, his completion percentage drops between 7-10% when Rivers isn’t throwing to him. And then remembering that VJ was always considered top 5, maybe top 10 at worst, or so WRs in the league when on the Chargers but when he left he basically became a nobody. This is what happens when Rivers has a slightly above average WR to throw to, they look like a top receiver in the league.

    Dontno Nowuno

@Dan DeFord agreed on v.j.even keenan was a 4.7 40 3rd rounder and gates was a basketball player lol.good to read another true charger fan spilling truth.

    Jonathon Mourcella

Nah, most charger fans who watch #17 week in week out knew he was going to be a great fit. All you have to do is protect him and he will do the rest

    Lotto Fever

@Daniel Mustang And always playing from behind trying to bring them back!

a tavarez

Another win for the veteran and the colts. I hope he goes all the way to the Superbowl and wins.

    Dontno Nowuno

They would probably be a favorite in the nfc.afc is so STACKED this year though,it would be Ian incredible achievement

    thedeerhunter32

I hope so too. I believe we can, but it will be tough as nails.

    colokurt1

@thedeerhunter32 Rivers is tough as nails, so it may be possible

Erik Munoz

As a Charger fan, I remember hearing the pundits saying he makes them a little better but at best they are an 8-8 team! Never lost doubt in Philip! He is a warrior!

    viva laoldies

    “Hey give me likes”

I’m a charger fan too but y’all get annoying with that in every comment section.

    Erik Munoz

@viva laoldies that’s cute, bro. If you think it’s annoying don’t rely to my comment and just move on? It’s not very difficult to do.

    colokurt1

@viva laoldies We really like Rivers because he is a real dude and puts it all out there. Colts fans are just gonna have to deal with the Rivers bandwagon for a bit. Go Colts!

Erik Munoz

Philip low-key jab against the Chargers! Good for him! Lol He wasn’t the reason we lost to the Lions, Ekeler fumbled in the end zone and we shouldn’t have needed a 4th quarter drive! Benjamin dropped a dime Rivers threw him against the Texans that would have tied the game! Gordon fumbled against the Titans with the game basically won! The defense allowed Oakland to score with less than 3 minutes left after Rivers had just drove them down the field! Casey Hayward got called for PI against the Broncos in the final drive and that put them in field goal position even though there was only 20 seconds left in the game!

    Dontno Nowuno

    True fan√^^^^

    Rusty LugNut

You are absolutely right! But, that sure hurts to read!

    Fabián Contreras

That’s right!! So happy for Felipe Rios! Rooting for him these next games and in the playoffs. Forever chargers doh #boltup

James Ross

I’ve got a feelin we’ll be playing in the last game and win it all go colts

    Marked Man

    I sure hope you’re right….Go Colts 🐎

Krystal Lunaticki

such a brilliant quarterback more than glad to have him on our field

    thedeerhunter32

Krystal Lunaticki agreed. Was happy since week 1. Glad to see him improving and being compatible with everyone on the team.

Indigo Child

This dude has completely earned my eternal respect. To play like this being his age on a brand new team with no preseason…oh and did I mention he’s playing with severe turf toe!!! He had a better reciever core for the Chargers so he’s actually doing more with less in Indy too. The O Line & coaching has proven to be what Phillip truly needed to succeed

    Kenzie

and all the hate, criticism and them saying he’s washed…. we stay proving ppl wrong and they can stay sleeping

    Dan DeFord

@Kenzie Anyone who said Rivers was washed hasn’t watched his career, it’s that simple. And they sure as hell aren’t/weren’t Charger fans, even the ones that say they are Charger fans but hate on Rivers don’t actually watch the games.

    a tavarez

I’m a Charger fan and have followed Rivers through out his career. He’s one of the most motivated competitive players I’ve ever seen. I am also a fan of whatever team Philip plays in. So lets go Colts!

    Lotto Fever

imagine if Parris Campbell were healthy all year long? Goodness

ferrante9

we should give him a 5 year contract, and capitalize on this window we got to build a 5 year dynasty!

    ferrante9

@Lotto Fever he ll play 5 more years if he keeps on winning back to back to back to back rings . Why would you wanna coach hs making 2 grand a season , when you can win 5 rings and earn 150 mil?

    Lotto Fever

@ferrante9 because he’s already filthy rich and has lived out 1 of his childhood dreams in being an NFL QB. The other is being a HS football coach to his son just like his dad was for him

    Lotto Fever

@ferrante9 Plus, he’s literally already commited to the coaching job. Was introduced as the next head coach for a certain HS team. Look it up

    ferrante9

@Lotto Fever when there’s dinero involved and lombardy trophies, plans change, like in anything.

    ferrante9

@Lotto Fever he wants to win as many rings as he can, that’s what you want if you are a competitor, and if paid enough, he’ll play till he is 50, like brady.

Hollywood Heel

I had my doubts after the Cleveland game, but those have been put to bed. He’s my QB, and we’re fortunate to have him.

Slippy Fishy

Being a charger fan and then being eliminated I bought a rivers colts jersey i hope he takes it all the way

    jomoso hdhd

Good job welcome to the colt nation

    Lida Granados

I’m always going to be charger fan. And it made me sad to see someone other than him a qb. But I’m so happy for him, and I also bought a # 17 colts jersey. Go Colts.

Linda Cook

Is it just me or does anyone else see a clean shaven QB as an anomaly on this team? 🏈

Travis Tapley

I love ❤️ Philip rivers ( from a SAN DIEGO chargers fan) hope u can win it all for this guy

Daniel Aranda

Life long Charger fan from New Mexico. I am true Charger fan since the age of 6 pick them cause of there helmets the Bolt. Being a Charger fan 48 years now and fellow charger fans know we are the moat heartbroken fans out there. If Charger and Colts would end up against each other for AFC Championship i wonder who i ‘d root for. Maybe the first time i would root for the other team. Phillip is a great QB but even a greater human being. Think i would not be the only Charger fan doing it.
Go Colts! Go Bolts! No one deserves one more then him. God Bless
