Zach Wilson will be very good now.

@Lord Hasbulla hopefully not running for his life immediately like every Jets QB since the beginning of time

Moses would be a square peg forced into a round hole in the wide zone. Fant is actually better suited at RT in Lafleur’s scheme because of his plus athleticism. Moses’ skill set (power) is better suited to RG in this scheme and his contact speaks to him playing that position over RT. It doesn’t figure that the starting RT would be earning a base salary of just over $3mil and topping out at $5+mil while his backup is on the bench earning a base of $4+mil and topping out at $9mil. A 5mil salary puts Moses in the top 10-15 range for RGs, but a top 15-20 range for RTs. Moses is definitely better and worth more than that even this late in the offseason. Scheme, skill set, compensation and need at the position all SEEM to point to Moses playing RG.

I WOULDN’T WANT TO BE VON RUTEN RIGHT NOW SHEEEEHS!!!!!!!

    lootie jake

    wtf are you talking about…

    malus rex

@lootie jake Moses is not athletic enough to play RT in the wide zone blocking scheme the Jets are going to employ. He’d get exposed out on the edge because he’s not the move tackle that Fant is. The wide zone is actually TAILOR-MADE for a tackle with George Fant’s skill set. Not so much for Moses. Also, Moses’ contact, even with incentives, is not commensurate with a starting RT salary, but more in line with that of a RG. Moses also has the power to play RG that Fant lacks. Becton, Vera-Tucker, McGovern, Moses and Fant would be the optimal lineup for the OL, maximizing the talents of the Jets’ offensive linemen at their most effective positions.

    malus rex

I think Moses is an instant upgrade at RG. He simply doesn’t possess the requisite athleticism for a wide zone RT, like Fant does, but Moses definitely has the power to play RG.

    lootie jake

@malus rex I really don’t think Moses is switching to guard, but we’ll see

    malus rex

@lootie jake He’ll be exposed as a RT in the wide zone. This is a classic square peg round hole situation. Moses would essentially be tasked with responsibilities that he is simply not physically equipped for. And a $5mil at most salary wouldn’t even qualify him as a top 15 RT as he’d be the 17th highest paid RT. That seems like a very low number for such a high caliber player even this late in the offseason? At RG where he’d be infinitely less of a liability, his salary puts him in the top 10-15 range, much closer to the market value of a quality RG.

This is not the “same old Jets”…these guys have a Parcels type feeling about them. They go about their business methodically, unrelenting in preparations

PJ

Fant sucked last year.. this is a I messed up signing for Douglas.. he needed to overpay to get free agents in the building during his first offseason.. no one wanted to play for Gase .. love this signing.. Moses is a great player which makes this line a lot better.. but the jets don’t see fant as a bs swing tackle.. that’s just them trying to put a positive spin on a bad signing.. they see him as a contract restructure or release

PHIL ADAMS

Let MM have his old 76 number…. GF to 74 and just look at that BIG 7’s LINE…….. Beckton 77, Vera-Tucker 75, Moses 76, Fant 74…….. WILSON’S WALL….. GO-JETS 🇬🇧
