@Jason Wall I disagree. Tighten up in the red zone, but we are still playing way off receivers. I saw it last game. Maybe the overall scheme is different. Maybe statistically we have improved. We still do it lol.
@undericesinger Nobidy plays press or even man every down. We changed from a 2 high cover 4 base shell to a single high cover 3/cover 2 man philosophy.
Everybody disguises coverages. Sometimes what you think you see you aren’t seeing.
@Jason Wall See, I knew the first comment back would be the other extreme in saying nobody plays press every down. That still doesn’t change overall they are playing too soft. That has not changed.
@Jason Wall I understand that some of the philosophy has changed, but they are still playing “off” regardless of it being man or or zone from what I’ve seen. The mass majority is playing off the receivers. That’s why even in the washington game Heinicke had a rediculous completion percentage. It was still a thousand paper cuts and then down to red zone. Maybe the TYPE of soft coverage had changed, but teams are using the same strategy of going underneath and taking bites of yardage. You explaining two or single high safety coverage with s cover 4 or cover 3 shell doesn’t change that if it appears the defense is playing bend don’t break. The proof is in how teams execute at a high rate against us while we try to take away big plays for the most part. It makes for an inconsistent defense that buckles down in the second half and in the red zone. Improved statistics can be misleading.
Everyone was so quick to judge Nick based off one press conference, and look now. Great job coach!

If Hurts can start being able to read the defense, see more of the field and get away from being a quick 1-2 read and scramble type of QB… AND he fixed his accuracy and deep ball, he’d be fkn dangerous. That, however, is a TALL order. I like the kid, but we’re definitely going to need to see some vast improvement arm-wise, or I doubt he ends up getting his option flexed.

This is precisely the problem with some of our fanbase..
The same people that are praising Coach right now for his “development over time” are the same people who wanted him gone prior to completing a full season! Instant gratification or nothing with some Eagles fans.
Nick Foles is my all time favorite Eagles QB. I loved Randall, liked McNabb and Jaworski. But Nick played with a calmness I have not seen until we drafted Jalen Hurts. I hope we give him a championship defense to grow with.
There are already plenty of weapons on offense. The deepest offensive line in the NFL. 3 deep at RB a great TE & WR. Use those 3 first rounders on a defensive back, linebacker and defensive lineman. Use the 2nd and 3rd rounders on a WR and offensive line depth(center).

Loved this hire when it happened, mid season I felt we were a bit unlucky against some of our opponents, and now this guy is the best rookie head coach in the league. You can tell the player development has been incredible compared to past years. He sees their strengths and uses it and makes it work. Hope he’s here for years
Draft Sauce Gardner and use our first round picks to help our defense be a top issue in the NFC.
