No, the rule states a playcaller must physically be on the field or press box. The NFL also issues headsets to coaches and monitors if they go down. if one team loses its headsets both teams must relinquish their headsets on the field immediately.
Every other job would have him be on call during work if he had covid. Dumb that the same can’t be said for NFL jobs
