AKA The decade where we became the Browns (or Bengals) for the next 20 or so years.

The ’70’s were lean years in Titltetown. VERY few winning seasons or playoff appearances. “Field Goal Packers” who couldn’t put the football in the end zone! Balloon ball quarterbacks like Jerry Tagge, Scott Hunter and David Whitehurst. Horrible coaching and GM’s. Hard pill to swallow after all the success in the ’60’s!

Previous month I managed to pull my first five figure paycheck ever!!! I’ve been working for this provider online for two years now and I never been happier… They are paying me $95 per hour, and the best thing about it is that I am not that tech-savvy, they just required basic awareness of internet and common typing skill…The best thing about this work is that now I have more time with my kids. I am able to commit quality time with my friends and family and look after my babies and also going on vacation with them very often. Don’t let pass this chance and make sure to act fast. This is what I do… *grab26.com*

As soon as I heard about the Hadl trade I was angry. My opinion at the time was that Devine wanted to hurt the Packers because of his unpopularity with the fans. That trade helped the Rams and hurt the Packers for years.

The story I heard about Devine’s dog was that he was killed by a fan. Glad that wasn’t the case.

I and most fans were wrong about Starr being a great hire. In retrospect his one year as an assistant was just not enough preparation for the job.

Joe Montana never got a lot of respect until he started winning with the 49ers. As I recall Devine refused to start him at Notre Dame until his senior year. No surprise he lasted well into the draft.

Tough days but loved em anyway.

Feel the same way !!! I’m going to be 55 in September…..and this is the era I grew up on. Frustrating yes…demoralizing you bet…but they were MY PACKERS 👍

If you take a drink every time you hear “African-American” you won’t make it past the 13 minute mark. I’m starting to take offense now when people refer to “white players” instead of Anglo-Americans… Liberal tripe…

Does your back hurt carrying all that weight?

Imagine being that upset about something so trivial.

I thought this was supposed to be about the Packers, not about race

    Mike Smithmyer

They also said “Black players” and “Black people” plenty of times. Who cares? Stop making an issue when there isn’t one.

John Cerk

Being born in 1964 all I saw growing up were garbage Packer teams till Mike Holmgren came in 1992.Bart Starr,Dan Devine,Forrest Gregg,Lindy Infante should never been head coaches.

This should be required watching for younger Packer fans. It can all slide down hill in a hurry.

WIDave0311

No, things aren’t getting worse. They’re just getting more obvious.

Paid the piper for all the winning in the 60s.

So it is true we did pass on Montana, total face palm

    Zach Miller

To be fair, so did every other team lol

    Tom Andrews

The Packers also passed on Dan Marino. Took Rich Campbell instead.

    Gage M.

Tom Andrews A big mistake made by the Packers executive committee was not hiring an experienced GM when they brought back Bart Starr to be their head coach.

Zach Miller

Gotta love Bill Curry

Blue blood franchise forever unique

Leave it to the Packers to produce a documentary about the team in the ’70s and have the first half of it be about Lombardi.

    Josh Daniel

Not much to talk about in the 70’s. No big moments and not a lot of legends or winning seasons/ playoff appearances. Half of the 57 minutes was about the 70’s, itself so they needed to lengthen it a little bit with something else otherwise, the episode would have been over pretty quick. Plus, why not start off a rough episode with 10-15 minutes of Lombardi? 🙂

Dan Heilman

The video from the GB-Cincinnati 1976 game is from the original CBS telecast. Does anyone have that?

Scott Hesse

Veryl Switzer was the 4th pick in the 1st round of the 1954 draft by the Packers. Switzer played for two seasons with the Packers. The Packers need to recognize Switzer.

Big Baz

70’s were so bad half the presentation was dedicated to Lombardi who was gone by 68.

Doc Tar

What a contrast to last week’s Lombardi 60s episode.  All football fans should take heart from the Packers of the 70s and all teams should take heart of the season ticket sell outs year after terrible year in Green Bay.
