PLAYCALLING AND PLAY DESIGN
Considering Dak is still probably not 100%…
Play action quick passing with Dak under center..Should be what they primarily do to START games on 1st and 2bd down..Get the defense thinking play action on 1st down..Then start feeding Zeke/Pollard more as you get into the 2nd quarter..Middle of the 2nd quarter…
Kellen needs to use Zeke and Pollard together at least 2 to 3 times a drive..Always use one or the other as a decoy..And just because a play doesn’t work that doesn’t mean not use it at all…
One thing Linehan did that Kellen doesn’t do AT ALL is play action passing with Dak UNDER CENTER..When teams load the box Kellen checks out of the run..WRONG MOVE..Stay lined up in the run and throw a play action from under center..They talked about it on NFL network…
They used Zeke/Pollard together once against Philly…Zeke and Pollard on the same side of the field..Unless its a run..If Zeke is going to the right side of the field Pollard needs to be going to the left side..Stretch out the defense with misdirection..Kellen didn’t do that and the play didn’t work..Then he never used them together again..
Kellen love the empty backfields..He’ll use that over and over even when it doesn’t work..Dak either gets sacked..Almost sacked..incomplete pass..almost intercepted..The pass protection on empty backfields is too shaky…
They should use the jet sweep as a decoy when Pollard (Tavon Decoy)gets carries
and when Zeke(Pollard/Tavon decoy) gets carries..The jet sweep should be used as as a decoy to set up both Zeke and Pollard..Every drive..at least once or twice…
Plain and simple Jarwin should be playing MORE than Witten..Witten is taking too many snaps and wasting plays after watching all his drops…
If they want Amari to have a bigger game..Amari should get at least 6 targets a game..To help him get his head more in the game…
Dak should have 5-10 play action quick passes from under center,,Kellen..like Linehan has him throwing mainly out of the shotgun with no play action..It works but he does it too much…
What happened to TE screens?? I know Witten is probably too slow but Jarwin would be perfect.. Even Linehan used them when Swaim was here..How about a TE screen to Jarwin??
More sweep draws and play action to POLLARD in the shotgun..Pollard is more explosive on sweep draws..They should play Pollard more in shotgun situations an either play fake if you pass or a draw..3-4 times a game possibly every other drive…
If they want Amari to be more into the game they have to have a plan of targeting Amari at least 6 times..That should be the plan before the game even starts…
In general they should run more crossing routes over the middle..Amari..Cobb..Gallup..Even Jarwin…
Amari especially should run slants or out routes..Come back routes seem to be ineffective..Amari gets open on his sharp cuts..He should try some hitch and go routes also…
Whatever happened to the TE screens?? Even Linehan used them when Swaim was here..How about a TE screen to Jarwin??
Last thing..If the skins load the box..DON’T CHECK OUT OF THE RUN FORMATION..Stay in the run formation..KEEP DAK UNDER CENTER..PLAY FAKE TO ZEKE..QUICK PASS/QUICK SLANT TO AMARI/COBB/GALLUP…
Do that enough times and the skins won’t know if its a run or pass in that formation..That will help Zeke/Pollard the rest of the game…

Kellen Moore and Sanjay need to take that grey area out of Amari’s mind and let him know coming into the game..You WILL get at least 3 targets a half..And you’ll know which plays we will try and target you..We will assist you with a little scheming but you will know when you need to run your best route ahead of time…
When Amari has a big game the offense has a big game..Kellen Moore should not leave that to chance..He needs to use Zeke and Pollard on the field as DECOYS to help get Amari open off play action..But he should also scheme other receivers route to help Amari also…
Amari needs less comeback routes..More slants he gets great separation with his clean cuts on slants…
They could put Cobb in motion he sets in the slot next to Amari..Cobb takes off..double move straight up the field GO route..Amari takes off..when Cobb does his double move..Amari breaks inside on a slant..If Cobb can occupy the safety deep..Amari could make a second cut upfield..Cobb might be open deep..Amari might be open deep..But they could use Cobb with Amari or Gallup..Either Cobb breaks open or Amari/Gallup breaks open..But if Dak is already planning to target Amari he should make a better throw…
He should create more variations on what they do with Zeke and Pollard..They should include…
Pollard running with Zeke blocking…
Play fake to Pollard..Screen to Zeke…
Play fake toZeke screen to Pollard…
Play fake to Zeke or Pollard..Pump fake to Zeke on a screen..Pass downfield to Amari
Some example plays with Zeke/Pollard on the field…
Dak in the shotgun..Pollard in the slot..Zeke in backfield..Amari on the right..Gallup left..Jarwin next to Pollard and Tyron…
Dak takes the snap..Play action to Zeke..Pollard and Jarwin release upfield to occupy safeties and LBs…
Gallup runs a double move and GO route up the sideline..Amari starts on a go route breaks into a slant..double move go route..Dak looks for Amari deep on the GO route…
Now Dak and Amari already know before they break the huddle..Amari is the guy either on the slant or the deep route depending on whats open…
But everybody should be watching for blitz Zeke, and Dak.s receivers…
There are a bunch of variations/derivative plays Kellen can put on this..But use Zeke and Pollard as passing targets..or decoys off play action for your receivers…
If they load the box..Stay in run formation..Dak play action/Quick Passes FROM UNDER CENTER…
Hit the quick slants..DON’T SHIFT TO SHOTGUN..Continue to show run..But throw from under center..That will help open up the run for Zeke/Pollard later in the game…
Kellen is the Boise st offense the only offense that you know? All pro teams get paid. Cowboys need some continuity on offense.

Dak has 5 options…
Zeke in right flat(screen)..Amari left flat(screen)…
Gallup on a deep inside slant..Amari on the GO route..Jarwin over the middle…
Or they could run a draw..They have a lot of different options they can do with Pollard/Zeke..They should use it more…
