He’s already made his first blunder, bringing in (retired) Ryan Kalil, paying him over 8 million, force-feeding him onto the O-line, thus killing what little chemistry the line had built, by removing J. Harrison after most of training camp was already over. 
(stupidly desperate — name recognition move — caused more harm than good — commencing the season long O-line shuffle)

But I digress, imagine trading Ed Reed or Ronnie Lott on their rookie contract!??… Yeah, and I know he’s not quite on their ‘hall of fame’ level yet. But neither were they, in their first 3 – 4 years in the league. So don’t cut your nose off to spite your face, Baby GM and don’t go blindly listening to your buddy Gase either.
