How Will Ken Dorsey Change the Bills Offense? | Bills By The Numbers: Ep. 17 | Buffalo Bills

In this week's Bills by the Numbers podcast presented by FanDuel, Chris Brown and Steve Tasker share their thoughts on how newly named OC Ken Dorsey might change the Bills offense and if this will make the offense less predictable. The two take a look at the most surprising numbers from Josh Allen's 2021 season and who were the most reliable Bills players on third down. In ‘The Numbers Game’ Steve guesses if certain Bills red zone stats are true or false.

Should be able to implement alot of what worked this year, knows Josh’s strengths and how to set him up for success. Good move hiring within.

    walter Wasileff

He’s no Daboll. If he was that good he would have been the offensive coordinator instead of Daboll. Think about it, it’s like putting in your second-string guy.

    Louis Giardina

I like the move a lot better then getting a retread OC who’s been all over.

    Sean Stoica

@walter Wasileff he was the qb coach. He has worked with Allen quite a bit and was a huge reason for him growing the way he did. Maintaing some stability with the coaching staff is a big thing as well.

    Cheetahs Are Cool

@walter Wasileff that’s dumb logic, he’s never been an OC before, Bills had no reason to make a change before, also Daboll had never coached up an offense to even above 20th in yards OR points before 2020, he’s not this amazing genius OC, some Bills fans wanted him gone after 2019 bc how often it seemed like he held the offense back for no reason, like forcing Gore over Singletary so much when it was clear that Singletary was playing significantly better

Peterj516

Like Tasker said, Out of pocket completion percentage is skewed because of his uptick in throwaways from years ago to this year

MTGrave Smash

Its the leaving Travis Kelce open 30 yards with 8 seconds left thats the problem.

    walter Wasileff

Poor defensive coaching cost them the game. It was coaching that did them in.

    Seth101

I was hoping that some team might hire Frazier also.

The players, especially Josh like Dorsey, glad to see him get promoted and hope he can work some magic on this offense. Very excited for next year.

    walter Wasileff

All Bills fans are always excited for the following year only to be disappointed in the end. It’s the Buffalo way, same with the Sabres. Give them hope and then crush their dreams in the end. ROLF Ain’t this the truth? 60 years of disappointment.

Mark Murphy

I think the stats missed the boat totally. QBs are better when they are unmolested in the pocket. DUH! Comparing him to other QBs in the same circumstances is the meaningful stat.

MVProfits

Obviously Dorsey will do things differently, but even he had the same exact strategies as Daboll, the PLAYCALLING during the game will be different. Hopefully he does a great job. The fact he’s been there means all the good stuff Daboll brought should remain, and then add his own twists. Josh will surely add more input of his own too as he’s earned the right to do so and they’ve worked together.

    walter Wasileff

Do you know who the best offensive coordinator would be? Let Josh call his own plays. He’s smarter than any of the clowns on the Bills coaching staff.

Protect #17. Better red zone execution without putting #17 at risk. Don’t care about run pass, as long as Bills win.

Joe Borowiec

Yeah I’m thinking they had 258 million reasons to keep Dorsey 🤔

Charles butera

We’re gonna have the east locked. Josh is just peaking. He will bring us a sb 🏆 win

    Charles butera

@walter Wasileff  it’s coming Aaron rodgers only went to one it’s not easy. It’ll happen.

    walter Wasileff

@Charles butera – Brady won 6 and went to 9. He dominated the Bills for TWENTY years! He is GOD.

    Charles butera

    @walter Wasileff agreed

    Charles butera

@walter Wasileff  out of 22 years of football and it’s unheard of its not easy

    swifty716 swift

@walter Wasileff he won 7 and went to 10 superbowls

The Dulak family

Love the bills 😍 I am in love with Josh Allen 😚 but I like Knox and diggs and diggs and Beasley

Paul Deck

7:30 – the points regarding Allen’s drop-off this season, I bet can be attributed to OL play – they’re supposed to bail him out, but because he’s JA17, he often bails them out. Their play this season was a thorn in the offense’s side until late in the year, and was drastically worse play than last season when JA17 could imitate the Turpins, and stand and deliver the ball every play

Robert Schoelerman

I think the bills offense will be great with Dorsey and have a even balance of run and pass this coming season

J Osgood

You have to understand, pressure when you have 1.5 seconds of protection is wildly different than when you have 2.5 seconds of protection. It’s massive. If you are protected long enough for your receivers to get to the top of their routes and then throw under pressure, your completion percentage while under pressure has a fighting chance. But when the same pressure comes, but it happens when the receivers haven’t even run their routes, then what are your options? Throw at the back of your receivers heads? When our o-line is allowing pressure THAT fast, his completion percentage will tank like that. I would like to see his completion percentage while under pressure started with the Tampa game through the end of the year. I bet it’s more normal.

ruffbuffwest716

They need to give Steve tasker his flowers and put that man in the HOF 💯❤️

    walter Wasileff

LOL I thought you were going to say grave. ROFL

Bull Moose

Pro Bowl should be after the Super Bowl in Hawaii like it used to be.

Weldon Mix

Let’s talk about something real, guys, like what we need to do for next year.

RaymondLee

I’m excited for what the relationship between ken and Josh will bring, I’m worried that the same pressure that Daboll strugglesd under from Mcd will collapse on someone like Dorsey, he may thrive however.

    Thomas Coburn

Probably won’t be under pressure from McDermott as long as he doesn’t ignore the run game for a whole season and not call stupid plays.

Jose R

All i know is i would like to see Singletary with 1000 rushing yards, and Diggs and Davis with over 1000 yards next year.

    Cheetahs Are Cool

If Singletary gets to be the workhorse & doesn’t have to have a 50/50 split with someone else I could see it, his last 4 regular season games, extrapolated over 17 games is nearly 1400 yards, probably won’t do that much but i could see 1k if he gets the carries, especially if the OL improves with the new coach & maybe a new RG

    Ein Walroß

Yeah, i think protecting Allen a bit more should be a priority. Obviously using him to his full potential includes using his legs, but maybe back off a bit so he doesn’t deteriorate and starts sucking 2 years from now.

Thomas Coburn

Joe Brady and Ken Dorseys minds together are going to be great for Josh Allen and the entire Bills Offense

Jim Bob

I just realized Ken Dorsey was the starting UM quarterback in the early 2000s 😜. I knew he looked familiar.
