If we build a dominant DL it puts pressure on the QB meaning our DBs have to cover for less time. I love that we seem to be finally putting some efforts to upgrade the S position but I worry no matter how much we upgrade the secondary if our DL can’t put pressure on the QB our DBs will have to cover for 7 seconds each play.

Our DBs can be above average and look like superstars if our DL can put pressure on the QB forcing the ball out of his hands more consistent.
Any rumors at all about bringing in a big body DT? I am super thankful Crawford retired, I wish we cut him last year. It creates a whole but means changes will be coming soon because we are forced into putting more into the position.

To expound upon Nate’s interpretation on McCarthy’s take, the defense’s play only improved as certain FAs were weeded from the team. Slater reported on unrest in the locker room which also quieted as those FAs exited. This is one of the dangers in hiring “gunslingers” for a year. Their sole purpose is to bloat their stats for a bloated contract from another team because they know the Cowboys will not re-sign them – ergo, no loyalty.

Originally, I thought Nolan was behind the defensive scheme, but it’s becoming clear it is McCarthy’s vision. He wants to be as flexible on defense as Belichick. To achieve that, he needs high football IQ and athletic players.

The Seahawks were dominant because of Kam Chancellor. The Ravens were dominant because of Ray Lewis and Ed Reed. Those men were also team leaders and would never let a FA take over the locker room. I think Keanu Neal will be the leader in this locker room and Quinn/McCarthy will need to find a leader in the draft.

I believe he also admitted they made a mistake putting in the 3-4 with a short practice time, they got that defense wrong that’s why there going back to 4-3. But their going to build on what they learned last year, so the defense can be more versatile.

WOW…….Dallas Cowboy’s reporting personnel, the one that’s probably 5’2″, is ripping Jesse Holley because he wasn’t an All Pro. I guess people don’t understand that just MAKING an NFL roster makes you one of the greatest athletes in the world. Look at Holley, he was a backup/ST player and a VERY good one.

Romo is in for some uncomfortable years when he gets older with those injuries, especially his back (although he’s probably already feeling plenty of pain already), because as you get older your disks naturally start breaking down but when you’ve injured them, you’ll DEFINITELY have problems as he gets older.
