The pain is real and still lingering…but I guess the pain wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t like my team so much. The Bolts have and will always be the team I root for.

    Dan Deitch

Royce – Telasco chooses coaches about as well as he has done in the draft outside of the 1st rd. Telasco traded a 2nd for Mack and his big contract while Nwosu arguably had a better season. Outside of the Raiders game Mack was relatively quiet. Telasco doesn’t seem to have a good track record in the draft outside of the 1st and KA. Sayler looks promising but overall he has had so many forgettable picks. Some might suggest some great talents fell into Telasco’s lap in the 1st. They are going into the off-season with no cap space while Herbert’s rookie contract is coming to an end.

    Dan Deitch

Staley didn’t look like the right choice from last season. Daboll groomed Allen and is now getting everything out of Jones and the rest of the team. No one should ever be surprised when Staley gets out coached and of course Staley isn’t going to say he got out coached.

    Dan Deitch

Mack’s contract is around 3x as much as Nwosu’s a yr yet Nwosu was more productive when looking at the data.

    chargersina

@Dan Deitch All of what you say is true. Hoping Staley figures out run defense next year or it is his last. Lombardi was just a terrible play caller but our receivers need a lot to be desired after injury. Stupid decision to play our best against Denver. All that said, it is the only team I still care about. Sheesh. Darn it.

    Dan Deitch

Chargerina – Staley said he didn’t play his star players in pre-season because they were meaningless games yet he seemed to have a different approach vs the Broncos. The Vikings Phillips has already turned down a position with the Chargers possibly because of the instability of the coaching staff. I would love to see Branch, Witherspoon, Simpson, or Breese fall to them at 21 but I don’t see that happening. They could definitely use a separator at the wr position. I’m hoping they look at Flowers, Downs, and Hyatt. Downs has the best catch % out of the group but any of them would add the speed that they need. What’s your take ?

619 CALI FACTOR

I hope our new offensive coordinator helps the Chargers have an explosive offense!!!!! And we score alot of points!!!!

    619 CALI FACTOR

    @Suiiiii Facts bro

    Dan Deitch

Staley is supposed to be this great defensive coach but their D hasn’t improved much since he’s been there and they haven’t been able to stop the run in yrs. I don’t see them ever going far with Staley and Telasco. They are going into the off-season with no cap space while Herbert’s rookie contract is coming to an end.

    Ernest T. Bass

    You must be smoking crack😂

    619 CALI FACTOR

    @Dan Deitch Let’s just hope Staley’s 3rd year is a charm

    ceelos 21

Anybody other than lombardi will do a better job tbh

Kexin

There’s a difference between losing a playoff game because you’re not talented enough and losing a playoff game because of a historic choke by a Super Bowl-quality roster. The coach is ill-equipped for this job. He has been consistently outcoached and made terrible mistakes at the game’s most critical moments. There is nothing to salvage from 27-0 Staley. What is he even offering?

    Dylan Evolution Skateboarding

@chauncey williams Might need to get rid of him as well

    chauncey williams

    @Dylan Evolution Skateboarding It’s Staley

    Dylan Evolution Skateboarding

@chauncey williams Next season is his last chance. 3 strikes and you’re out.

    Enrique Zamorano

Staley. What is he even offering ?
    Excuses
    😂

    Larry Capoya

@Dylan Evolution Skateboarding and the offense scored on every single on of those turnovers. What more can you ask? As a matter of fact as little as the offense did in the second half they still did more than the defense. Let that sink in. Offense scored 3 points and defense had 0 stops and gave up 24 in the second half.

J Alvarez

Will always love this team through the rough and good. Just want a Super Bowl one of these days before I die. Need to see Herbert win one man!

    Golden Kings Toys

We will get multiple SB’s in the next 5 years keep the faith boltfam

    Kauai Fishing

    Never happen

    John A

I’ve been saying the same thing for 30 plus years!

    Dan Deitch

I can’t see the Chargers ever going far with Staley and a Telasco.

    Matthew Mareiniss

@Golden Kings Toys I’ll settle for one

iBaconBits

Why is this dude still our GM!? Telesco needed to go a long time ago, I remember when the chargers were a farmer system letting go of players and still hasn’t hired a great coaching system, so many 1st round bust he’s drafted and the medical staff is a joke how many injuries we have every year. RIP Marty Schottenheimer was a better GM as a coach

    COACHTY1

The chargers for an office is it a ““football front office they run this just like a regular business as long as they get a profit that’s all that matters these are construction guys that bottle football team Tom Telesco ‘s era has been up we seen nothing but the same thing for 10 years he’s been to the playoffs twice you should be fired the only reason he’s still here too is because he’s a first time GM that isn’t costing the chargers a lot of money that’s all they go off of they wanna profit at the end the families in charge so I’m sure they’re pulling Tom telesco’s strings he doesn’t want to answer the question that we do need our own Justin Jefferson or Jamar Chase it’s time and the problem is they just signed my Williams to that contract with all that money either way they’re going to have to use their first round choice on a rookie where the salary is beneficial to us for at least three years they have to go get a stat number one receiver Keenan Allen is getting old he’s starting to get hurt every year and so is Mike Williams there will be a receiver there at 21 we just have to pull the trigger Tom only drafts obvious first round picks that area of a square draft He doesn’t know how to work the middle of the draft his time is up what has he done lately in 10 years we need to get up and come in assistant from a winning franchise and get rid of him

    iBaconBits

@COACHTY1 I agree with you they do need a faster WR. I was also thinking a bigger true TE haven’t had one since Gates and a NT since the last good one the organization had was Jamal Williams back in the day. Maybe even a bigger RB I like Ekler but he’s too small to run between the tackles he gets taken down too much but arm tackles. But yeah I agree even when Rivers was there Telesco couldn’t surround him with the talent or coaching he needed

    COACHTY1

@iBaconBits I don’t know why they let Hunter Henry leave typical Chargers Jamal Williams is one person we have never been able to replace by far .

T 2

Here’s my question — has Staley shown you all he can do? Has he given the team everything he’s got and this is it? Because it looks like to me there’s been some weakness in the coaching areas…

    Johnny bling

It’s only his 2nd year as a head coach bro.

    chauncey williams

Saw some stats today on the defense side of the ball. In every major category, the Chargers highest ranking was 28th. Most were 30th or 32nd last. No one talks about how Staley has underperformed as a DC. This team is going nowhere with him calling the defense.

    CoastersBolts

    Some?

Don Bigotes

Sounds like they want more of a player that is explosive, as opposed to just fast. Separation and acceleration, get the ball out of Herbert’s hands quick, control the pace and flow of play. Could also allow Herbert to do more on his own accord like audibles, and hot routes. Just reflecting on the season, feels like we really need to equip the team to Herbert’s strengths and just let him take over. There were moments of that this season, especially the game against miami. Hopefully we get all our guys back healthy. We really need to hit in the off-season roster shuffle, including the draft.

    GarlicButter

Imagine Herbert throwing darts to Keenan and a dude with a similar skill set to a guy like Jefferson. And I love Everett’s yac ability. Dude is nasty with the ball, especially for his size.

    Ben Ramirez

@GarlicButter we just need to draft Hyatt

    BABY U

    We needed Olave this year

Mech Pilot7

Our team needs to run the ball decisively and stop the run with authority.. anything else is unacceptable and followed by a loss

Divide and Conquer

Can’t run can’t stop the run. It’s been a running issue for years.

Suiiiii

If the defense blows again, he’s gotta go

Lord_REEKO 777

I think our biggest flaw is not being able to run the ball, glad Lombardi is gone hopefully our offense can get better

    GarlicButter

O-line injuries didn’t help tbf, but yeah the run schemes were bland and not good. Especially with the talent we have at the RB.

    Indiana Jones

Considering we couldn’t run the ball I thought his play call were good. With the injuries this year the coaching staff should get medals for making the playoffs

Danny Dolan

Still cannot believe they lost Mike Williams in week 18.

Gibrann Rangel

If Telesco wasnt in a franchise that was poor I believe he would be way better. I want to blame him for the coaches (Staley, Lynn, mcccoy) but he only has to work with what ownership gives him. Which is why they keep Telesco because he does more than enough with the least amount of support financially

    Ernest T. Bass

Telesco is the one that hired these clowns Charger boy

    Bobby Lee

@Ernest T. Bass reading isnt your strong suite huh

    Royce Skepagny

Enough about the lack of financial support which is not even, remotely, true. The Spanos family spends just as much money as any other ownership group.

    MW

Poor isn’t the right word here….

Another WorldView Is Possible

4:00 Tom Telesco mentions the problems in the running game. Certainly, the loss of a Pro Bowl Tackle like Rashawn Slater has something to do with that, this year… But what I see, jumping right out at me, is two obvious blunders in the personnel decisions made in the offseason, this past year.

Justin Jackson was a SOLID producer and a good #2 RB. He was an incredibly smart guy, with great character, who SOLD OUT – in all phases of the game – including blocking in the passing game, and on special teams. He consistently produced high averages, in yards per carry, and per pass – and broke the longest runs from scrimmage, for the entire team, several years in a row. That kind of ‘spark,’ is a valuable intangible, that can switch the momentum into your direction, in key moments of a big game.

And despite ALL OF THAT – the Chargers disrespected him, by not even making an offer to him, to stay with the club, once he became a free agent.

So, later in training camp – he wound up playing for Detroit. Despite initially starting on their practice squad – and then running kicks, and eventually climbing up their depth chart to be their #3 RB – you can make a solid argument that he had a better year than any of the Chargers’ – in that rotation of bodies at the #2 position.

I need someone to explain to me how it made more sense to let Justin Jackson just WALK away – rather than making a modest, reasonable salary offer to him, and all the skills, experience, and leadership that he possesses.

How did it make sense to offer far more, to a complete bust, like Sony Michel?

I like Kelly and I suspect that Spiller will develop eventually. But Roundtree wound up getting sent down to the practice squad. I don’t feel like any of them played as well as JJ did in Detroit – or as he would have, had he stayed plugged-into the Chargers and remained the #2 in their system, for another year.

Sony Michel and JC Jackson both ate up big chunks of salary, and produced next to nothing for those prices.

I’d like Tom Telesco to address those bad decisions.

Danny Navarrete

I’m still hurtin after Saturday’s Lost!!!
I can’t stop replaying that 27-0 score🤦🏽‍♂️

Blazing Bolts

I’m surprised Tom Telesco is still our GM. Next season, the expectations are through the roof. It’s now or never for both GM and Head Coach. Enough of the mediocrity. Bolt Up ⚡.

Merritt Boydston

Thanks for holding Telesco’s feet to the fire on the injury questioning Popper! That’s why the fan base loves you. Tom did not appropriately answer your question and it showed.

Royce Skepagny

The one positive of this ultimately disappointing season was as Telesco mentioned, the rapidly exploding fan base both locally and nationally. However, this devastating loss could throw a wet blanket over that. This is why I felt Brandon Staley should’ve been let go. Chargers finally becoming a team that was gaining a national profile after all those lost years in San Diego. Now after blowing that 27-0 lead vs the Jags they, once again, appear to be the team that few fans took seriously being, basically, that they were so easy to overlook in San Diego.

RETROking94

Love what I heard, sounds like we’ll be lookin for a speedy receiver and with the new OC hopefully the offense will be more explosive. Buff up the D-Line. Let’s go bolts

Rich Smith

SAME, OLD, CHARGERS! It’s more acceptable when you don’t have a talented roster BUT this team was not that, it was oozing with talent. Blowing a 27 point lead in a play-off game is a perfect reflection of how the Charger’s season went. Some will use injuries as a excuse but everyone knows that terrible coaching in all 3 phases was one of the big issues, and it obvious that they’re keeping Staley because they don’t want to fire a coach and still have to pay him (SAME, OLD, CHEAP, SPANOS!). Herbert and Asante Samuel Jr. should not sign with the team long term, Herbert will probably get franchised tagged over and over until the price gets too high if he doesn’t.
