It sounds like you finished school in the fifth grade. You have a plethora of other options, if you do not respect the work they are doing.

Most people that cover sports didn’t play it at a real level of competition. I’d argue study and understand of systems, tactics and strategies can be achieve without actually playing. Most media coverage would agree with that considering who they employ for the most part.

@James Runge I wouldn’t say most. I’d sat most ppl doing the analysis now have played at some point. You don’t have to be in the NFL or NBA but played at some level in your life. Its all the same from then on. You have some understanding when you’re in high school and play football how the system really works. There is a higher level of understanding and actually being able to accurately explain it to the viewer at home. Everyone doesn’t need to have played before to talk about the game but to really understand how a player feels u have to have at some point have played the game.

@Mr Vegas That’s fair but you don’t have to achieve that thru football specifically. Softball, basketball, volleyball, tennis, golf, track and field, combat sports all build an understanding of what it’s like to be a competitive athlete and how a team dynamic works. They teach competition, strategy and concepts, how to process in the moment, preparation, keeping your head in the moment, overcoming adversity. Achievement and failure in competition sport gives you that perspective whether it was with shells on or not. That background wouldn’t qualify them to coach or train by any means but it certainly is enough to be an analyst/ reporter.
