Debating the biggest needs Terry Fontenot, Arthur Smith must address | Falcons Final Whistle

Scott, Tori and Kris break down the Atlanta Falcons biggest needs, including which position takes the top spot, in the latest episode of the Falcons Final Whistle podcast. While edge rusher is the obvious choice, we debate other spots that simply must be addressed this offseason, and why this priority list shouldn’t influence what the Falcons do at No. 8 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft.

I think if we stuck between two or 3 good defensive players at 8 we go with Stingley because he added piece to a position we won’t have to worry about with AJ already there

    Davy Brazell

I say UGA’s DT Jordan Davis at 8 overall.

    King 7

@Davy Brazell I like that an I was thinking that him at 8 but he’s just not a 3 down player

MUTshane

The falcons biggest need is to NOT reach in the draft just to fill a position. Draft the best player available!

    Davy Brazell

I say go defense first. I’m hopeful with the 8th overall pick we draft UGA’s DT Jordan Davis.

    Darhyl Watkins

    I totally agree

    Chadillac0119

I hope with our #8 we got best player available(RB, or WR if we don’t have Ridley). After that, Oline and Dline.

    Sho Nuf

Might as we. They need everything.

    Anthron Thompson

    I agree

Mike Homcho

Needs oline, Dline, wr, rb, lb and safety

    Anthron Thompson

    And a QB!!

Tony Wright

At 7:50 they talked about shoving edge rushers down their throats, that’s exactly what we need, after trading WR Calvin Ridley the Falcons will have an extra 2nd round draft pick giving the team three 2nd’s, the team also needs to trade down from the 8th overall pick and pick up an extra 2023 1st round draft pick & an extra 3rd round draft pick for this upcoming draft

    T Fleming

    Good ideas… Perfect

    Chadillac0119

Yeah. The 2023 1st will be super important looking for a qb. I’m sure next year will be that year.

Tony Wright

With my previous statement the Atlanta Falcons will now have these draft picks for 2022: 1st rd, three 2nd rounders, two 3rd rounders, 4th rd, 5th rd, 6th rd and the team has no 7th round draft picks in 2022, IDK how many compensatory picks the team has or even if they had any

Tony Wright

1st rd DE Jermaine Johnson (Florida St), 2nd rd DT Travis Jones (UCONN), 2nd rd WR Christian Watson (N. Dakota St), 2nd rd OLB Arnold Ebiketie (Penn St), 3rd rd LT/LG Myron Cunningham (Arkansas), 3rd rd RB Mohamed Ibrahim (Minnesota), 4th rd LG Josh Seltzner (Wisconsin), 5th rd WR Romeo Doubs (Nevada), 6th rd RB Kevin Marks (Buffalo)

Rivers hagens

Either Draft ikem OT from NC State or draft CB Sauce Gardner from Cincy if they don’t make a move on either one of em trade the 8th for more picks

Gvvmbino 0

1) Stingley or Sauce
2) Walker or Spiller
2) QB, DE or S
3) Pickens or Ross
4) DE or S
5) DT
6)OG

Christopher Richardson

I believe dean pees said during the season we need to improve our secondary’s ability to play man through personal.. so corner/safety play. Pass rush and center position

Davy Brazell

Atlanta needs to drop some content and hurry up and trade Ridley for draft capital and build our D asap

This “Pod-Cast” has got to be one of the best podcasts out of the many you have done.
Your love, passion and frustration was clearly felt. That’s why I would have like to share my vision of the “Best Draft Available”. Unfortunately it got too long, and I doubt you’d have the time to critique it as great as it is. Thanks for the Pod Cast.

Rasheen Jackson

Need quarterback and defense.

C.H.A.D

we could use another shut down corner, maybe the kid from LSU or a receiver, I dont think Tajee sharp, hayden hurst, Olamide, and russel gage, can cut t as a big receving core

slowhand256

NFC South…last place for the next 3-4 years

Brendt Lindsay

1st. Stingley. Trade Ridley for EDGE. 2nd. Pickens and Metchie. 3rd. Kyren Williams and OG. 4th DT. 5th S

William Paul

One draft and a 30minute discussion won’t fix this mess.

FalconFan4Life

Speaking of “Best Player Available” I offer you the “Best Draft Available” apologizing for the length, trimmed as much fat as I could…. what’s your opinion?

Best Draft Available

The “Best Draft Available”. It starts with acquiring free agent center from the Tennessee Titans, Ben Jones. This acquisition must be done asap before someone else grabs him. (remember Alex Mac) Having Jones who has run Arthur Smith’s offence for several years, the opt to mentor both Dalman and Hennessy for the future, as well as anchoring the offensive line. The success of this years draft, somewhat hinges upon solidifing an anchor at this position. This brings us to our first pick. Stingely vs. Gardner. Whom ever you feel fits the defensive program best, go with it. Either way you can’t go wrong. Having another shutdown / lockdown corner opposite Terrell, gives you a defensive advantage that’s hard to beat. With both sides of the field on lock down, Quarterbacks will have to hold the ball longer or get rid of it. (Here’s where it gets tricky). The next move is to offer a 2for1 trade to Phildelphia who needs receiver help, own 3 first round picks. I would offer to swap our early second rounder for their late second rounder giving them an opportunity to move up in the second, with the hopes of getting their 16th pick (They’re not going to do it). I would give away / add Calvin Ridley as an incentive hoping that they might at least counter with their 19th. The goal is to get back into the first round to acquire either Treylon Burks whos tall, fast and hard to stop or bring down. Frame like a former #11, or Christian Walker, a Mike Evans like receiver, tall fast, elusive. Keeping an eye on Jameson Williams’ recovery. The fastest of the three, able to take the top off most defenses, if both are gone. Again whom ever best fits the program and has the best upside. Burks being the better run blocker, Watson able to return kick’s. Freeing up one of those first rounders takes some of the strain off their salary cap. Before we get into the draft (we should start today), I would make a second 2for1 offer to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jags already own 4-picks in the sixth. I would offer both 6th rounders to Jacksonville in exchange for their second rounder. This would give Jacksonville the opp to own the sixth round with 6-picks in the 6th. Picking whom ever was available and /or trade multiple picks of their own to move back up. If successful we now have 3-second round picks. Edge Rusher, Edge Rusher and offensive tackle. Not offering names, just best player availabel. Third round is just as crucial if not more so. We must find a Beast Matthew Butler vs. DeVonte Wyatt, to line up alongside Grady Jarrett. No explanation required. 4th round, don’t even think about Malik Williams. He won’t be there (but?). Here you’re drafting for depth, best offensive / defensive tackle available. And, if you must have a running back, Dameon Pierce in the 5th is where you take one. Me personally, I would rather add depth to the offensive / defensive line. Last but not least. If TJ Green is available, I would invite him back into the fold with a two yr, 750k each make it or brake it deal, to add depth to the CB position, whos already familiar with the system.

If we think responsibly with our minds like true GM’s, as if we were Terry, and not emotionally with our hearts, this is the Best Draft Available.

95 Tru

Trenches, trenches, trenches and ohh yeah treaches. If we protect Matty any reciever will work. Pass rush well is just a blaring need. Hell Defense period.

Animosity716

If I were the Falcons GM, I would trade for a late 1st round pick, a 2nd and 3rd rd pick. Get players on that team

skintbakdotcom

Jordan Davis99 will force teams to block 2 with 4(they’d have to double he and Grady97). This immediately improves our run defense which would also compliment taking 2 edge rushers with 2 of the next 3 picks
