Johnathan Abram played as well as everybody thought he would since his debute last year. Josh Jacobs is a force to be reckoned with and somehow looks even more improved this game than he did last year. Damon Arnette didn’t seem to get targeted a ton, and that Robey Anderson TD seemed to only happen because he slipped. Carr looked nice, especially in intermediate passes (hopefully Gruden gives him more plays to throw deep), Offensive line is playing phenomenally (outside of Brown exiting after three snaps). Edge rush looked nonexistent sadly. Collins got double-teamed a ton, and Hurst proved more and more on why he should start alongside him instead of Hankins. Renfrow looked good, Ruggs looked as advertised (hopefully he isn’t riddled with injuries), Waller looked like a baller, Agholor looked good and Bryan Edwards should’ve had a few receptions. Our offensive playcalling needs to improve.
Now that we have film on our opponents, our players have the familiarity of what it’s like playing together and we have the confidence from getting the dub against Carolina, I fully expect us to utilize the right players, gameplan properly and give the Saints next week a battle.
Hankins did fine. He helped make the stop on 4th and 1

@Justin Ryan our defense in my opinion has the talent to be pretty damn good and I think they mainly did poorly this game due to them not being able to see what type of offense and plays Carolina would run. Now that they have tape to study and know what to expect, along with having in-game chemistry now, I think they’ll get better.
@tripp Hankins did alright and I give him props for assisting in that game saving stop we made but Hurst in my opinion is a better player. Since we drafted him he’s been our highest rated defensive player on our team and why he’s not starting is a huge question mark to me.
@Superapearmy I completely agree about Harris. He should’ve and could’ve made a stop but he failed doing his job. Arnette on the other hand did look pretty good for the most part though. I just rewatched what happened between him and Anderson and Arnette tried to get his hands on him to push him back and he sorta just slipped off him once he tried that.
where is the question about spreading out the panthers defense when they have 9 players in the box every single play…

It was a league wide trend. With a few huge exceptions offenses were very conservative across the board.
@Matthew Davis …which was to be expected given that all teams and staff had very little material on the opponent to base their game plan on. Certainly a lot less than in a normal season.
We need Trent brown. Pray he gets better.

DC Guenther is in watch already. His play calling on D looked uncreative and vanilla. No excuse not getting enough pressure on the opposing QB and giving up a 2 score lead like that. Gruden needs to mix it up more with always running the ball on 1st down. We need way more play action roll outs off of the zone stretch runs.
