I believe Herbert has unfinished business with the league. He definitely has new heights to reach this year.
If we cut our passes dropped by half, which was 38 last season, Herbert could have been in legit MVP conversation last year imo
exactly. plus, how many big plays were erased by penalties? First couple games last year they had several big plays, including touchdwns called back do to not being set for one second before snapping the ball. Or, two players movi9ing at the same time because someone moved slightly. Penalties cost them the dallas game. Seemed like eveery time they made a big play, it was ccalled back for A MICKEY mouse penalty. Parhams concussion / drdopped TD catch cost them the chiefs game. The BOGUS P I call in the raiders game. 3 games they could have won. Clean up the mistakes and an improved defense, and they should be a playoff team. IF they can run the ball better than last year, that’s a bonus. Special teams too. IF they can improve to even mediocre instead of bad, that will help. Defense must improve drastically. WORST in the NFL at allowig other teams to convert on third down. Getting more turnovers would be nice. But, simplygetting more STOPS and making the oher team punt more would help. And of course, NOT allowing teams to run for 150 plus yards per game.

Keenan Allen talked about the 38 dropped passes early on. That was the most in the league. The receivers know it’s on them & they’ve taken that issue on. They’ve made it personal.

Herbert was definitely hitting his stride at the end of last season. Imo he’ll start right where he left off. Playoffs for sure this year. Excited for this season.
exactly. was feeling more comfortable in the offense scheme. Hopefully Spiller will greatly improve the run game. Give ekeler a brake and help Justin too to not have to carry the offense on his shoulders. And, hopefully Everett will be better than cook was last year. Give Justin more reliable targets to pass to. Also, would like to see Justin run a LITTLE bit more. Not a lot, but pick up 5 yards or so when the receivers are all covered and there’s a big open space to run in, like Mahomes does. That will help open the iddle of the field if teams FEAR Justin running the ball. Run and SLIDE.

It’s going to come down to dropped passes, if they can go from worst to first, they should go far. And as we all know, injuries matter, for us as well as the opponent. Game two will be a big tell.

What I think will help Herbert win MVP is the defense. If they can be one of the top defenses, they should be able to make stops and give the ball back to the offense creating more opportunities for Herbert. I’m gonna stay down to earth and realistic with my prediction: low is 13-4, high is 15-2 and a SB win in Arizona 2023.
This team is a minimum 3 wins better than last season. This defense alone is going to be worth 3 additional wins. That means a minimum 12 wins. Start off 2-0 & the sky is the limit. Nothing but an AFC Championship game appearance is acceptable.

As a Oregonian who loves Duck football, Herbert is a true winner. But I’m here to praise Mariota! Another great quarterback from Oregon. Same qualities as Herbert. Put him on a good team and he will shine like Herbert. One of the best QB’s now or ever!
