Joe Douglas is a top GM not because he traded Adams, he had no choice, it was his ability to get a massive return on a guy everyone knew couldn’t be invited to camp and could not be resigned. His genius isn’t the decision to trade him, but rather to get so much for him when everyone knew were were in a corner with no choice.

I like Joe d, but I just can’t buy into Adam gase being a good nfl coach, if they stink this year and he’s willing to get rid of gase I’ll feel more comfortable with Joe d being our guy.
bryan mckernan joe is in that position because of gase. Joe will do him right and give him time.
@Alex Esteves Gase coaches the team and decides who sits and who plays, Douglas procures the talent ,but doesn’t decide if they play or not. Both are considered equal and report to the owner, it’s an odd setup to say the least. Like I said, if Gase is fired I hope they’ll turn over the hiring of the head coach to Joe like it should be. BTW I know this was for bryan but I just couldn’t resist.
Ron Les it’s all good and it’s actually not an odd setup. Several teams do it that way from what I’ve read. You’re correct, if he does get fired, joe will pick the next coach. BUT you cannot ignore the fact that joe got the job and is in the position he is now because of GASE. The min Mac got fired rumors were gases friend joe would be the GM. just for that fact, joe will give gase a fair chance

Douglas knows what he’s doing and as a Jet fan it’s hard to believe. We have been through some terrible regimes last 10+ years. Just look at how many of our draft picks from say last 6 years are left. It’s pathetic. Great first draft for Joe and Company, good FA signings, lots of one year deals and then this amazing return on Jamal while we had less leverage. Can’t wait for football

Hopefully Gase gets it together. Remember though, Chris Johnson thought it was a great idea to hire a HC without the GM’s input, then had the old GM draft for the team right before his way out. Then he fired the old GM and made the new GM retain Gase WTF SMH. Very happy with our GM, but I will always be leery of owners who can NEVER get it right. Sucks being a Jets and Knicks fan bc of the current owners smh.
I hope Eric Allen is with the Jets for the next 100 years. He loves our team.
