It’s unfortunate even though I feel I’m Hurts’ biggest fan at this point I can’t disregard him not being consistent with his reads!
I’m only at 1 min & 48 seconds in but on that play he failed to know the situation & what the play was designed to do and because of that we weren’t able to have that play execute to the full potential as you can see there is a two high safety look and it stays that way after the play action hindsight is 20/20 but when the play is a play action sometimes that play action is to get the defense off guard sometimes it’s too just show what you’re going to do at times sometimes it’s to help create protection and sometimes it’s to help create separation from receivers to make them pay instead of going with a regular run and because it’s play action and the safeties stay two high you got the MLB committing a little bit whether it was a fake commit or not I think Hurts’ eyes went off too quick and missed Devonta’ Smith wide open down the middle and I said this before Smith isn’t really great with the ball in his hands he’s decent enough and he might have only needed to make one guy miss for a much bigger play or a touchdown!

You show all that with Slay you get the MLB committing with two high safeties the middle of the field is wide open you have him right in the middle or you could wait a little bit in case the middle linebacker did get enough depth and throw it past him but Maybe he thought differently about the situation and said you know what maybe I shouldn’t just take that wide open pass down the middle and be safe with a more accurate throw because if something happens they batted down at the line it’s definitely picked off by that middle linebacker or somebody else because of zones for whatever reason he throws it behind Smith that can also cause an incompletion or interception but when you do this at a certain rate you’re not making defenses pay eventually defenses make you pay for not taking advantage because if you don’t take advantage you find yourself needing please later in the game and you press but if you hit on these you don’t need as much pressing later!

I was at Walmart last night and I was talking to an old man that was one of the greeters at Walmart and he was an Eagles fan we were talking a lot we were talking about Aaron Rodgers the playoffs our chances who we might face who would we want to face in the playoffs talked about the Cowboys talked about Hurts talked about Defenses the run game a lot of stuff but I told him I like our chances because we can run the ball and teams can’t stop it or teams don’t necessarily also have the secondary to stop both the run and the pass and if Nick can call a great game in terms of making a defense defend everything like we did with Kansas City make them defend insides zone runs outside Zone runs QB powers run up the gut, draws,rpos, read options, tunnel screens/jail break screens,RB screens play action TE screens,play actions, rollouts, bootlegs, sprints, motion swing passes jet sweeps fake jet sweeps and rounds fake and around keep the game close and use some trick plays couple trick plays gadget plays lot of different pass concepts spreading them out at times using motion using shifts giving Hurts more freedom to kill plays or get plays where if he sees a certain defense that he doesn’t like he can check into the right play because my thing is when you can run it and run it very heavily when the defense adjusts you can have a backup plan very easily it’s not like when you’re going and spreading out a defense and they show a certain look sometimes you can’t just go back to running the ball if you’re empty or your other adjustment could be a quick pass but then you could be wrong and that could be biting on it and stuff like that! but if you’re under center or in a power formation you can spread them out from it you can motion out a guy you can go to a screen you can go to a play action bootleg use many different run blocking schemes against a certain front so I’m very confident when it comes to that because I know Nick has done it with the Colts and he’s done it here at times but my worry is Hurts not being able to just yet not just yet be able to go through his progressions correctly understand the situation and fully understand the why of the play and what the play is designed to do!

Understanding opponents tendencies understanding what happens if this guy over commits when it’s a too high safety look understanding what routes might be opening up understanding this play might have my reads this way but if I get this defense playing different I need to have that quick over route over the top or I need to change my reads in that progression I’m going to watch the rest of the video because this could just be a one time thing but I feel obviously like we’ve been limited in the passing game because whenever you aren’t going through the right reads in your progression and you aren’t executing it’s because you’re not thinking a step ahead or you’re not thinking of this perspective from the defense I always say this when you’re on offense no matter what position you play you have to think okay sometimes what’s the best way to stop this play defensively the defense is in this look well how would they play our play with the look that they’re giving me presnap how would our own defense defend this play what would be the best way from the look they’re giving me should I audible to a run should I change my reads in my progression should I hot route somebody change it to a different pass? It’s not enough to just take a play read the defense and keep what the reads in your progressions were as a QB there’s the preparation to the whole week you have to prepare for every player on that defense whether the players are superstars or not knowing their tendencies knowing how do they defend certain Run blocking schemes or pass blocking schemes does this guy like to take chances and bite on things you need to adjust whether it’s pre-snap or postnap you need to adjust!

One of the reasons why the elite quarterbacks are the way they are is because they take every play seriously they don’t leave they hardly leave any play for granted you will see every single play Brady will ID the mic Brady will do the blocking adjustments Rogers will do the same thing they very rarely take place for granted you can be having a great game or a great drive but if you don’t do everything right on one play and they have the right defense and you’re not reading the front to tell you what personnel they’re in so you see someone open like a tight end but there’s a corner or safety on them he’s got the makeup speed that’s just an example you could get picked off! It’s extremely hard to do it at an elite level because there are times where you’re feeling yourself you’re having a good drive you’re having a good game and sometimes you take a play for granted like I said the front the personnel the coverages the techniques they play in reading the Fender’s body languages doing what Peyton Manning did that seems like it would be all too much for anybody to do but it shouldn’t matter if it’s a rookie quarterback first year quarterback 10-year quarterback 20 year quarterback it should matter if he’s on a rookie deal it shouldn’t matter if he just got his contract it shouldn’t matter if he’s the highest paid quarterback in my opinion every single quarterback should play at this level what I really mean is should do this with preparation pre-snap and postnap and it drives me nuts that there are only a handful of players at the quarterback position that can be called Elite when a lot of it could be laziness a lot of it could be not caring I’m not saying Hurts doesn’t care I’m not saying most of these quarterbacks don’t care but there’s something with the great ones who knows maybe there’s a difference there’s a difference between someone loving the game and someone just being obsessed with it Brady’s obsessed with it on some levels Rogers is obsessed with it!

I’m not a former quarterback I’m not a former player at any level I’ve never been part of any team or organization at any level I just love football and feel like I was put on this Earth or I was born for it and sadly because I’m older and I didn’t find football at a younger age or take it seriously or was a casual fan for too many years I’ve missed out on playing so my bucket list pretty much would be to be a coach at some level whether it’s assistant coach player coach whatever it might be!

Another thing that goes on noticed in my opinion that’s underrated as self-scouting teams have tape on you for 18 games this is one thing I probably wouldn’t be good with at this point with calling good games and making sure that I wouldn’t show the same things in every game you still do what Nick says you still do what you’re good at but you self-scout yourself and you try not to be obvious with the past concept you have or the runs you have the alignments you have and you try to change it up you try to change the blocking schemes on certain run plays you try to change the blocking schemes in certain pass plays you try to show something maybe that was successful in a certain week but you haven’t used much and bring it on there and maybe use it a bit use it more or you need to look around the league and in college and other places for some creativity and I know Nick makes a lot of phone calls and talks with other coaches and former players and coaches and other leagues and probably in college and I would say hey coach Saban hey so and so how would you use the talent we have offensively now we know we’re going to get teams that are going to try to make us one dimensional a little bit and slow down our run but how could we take advantage with the person that we have on offense how could we take advantage with the wide receiver speed we have how could we take advantage of our time ends that we have how could we take advantage of this online we have the running backs we have what routes what schemes can we use what would you do offensively and how would you try to stop us defensively?

Playoff win without Sweat? Impossible! As a matter of opinion, Gannon has some obvious shortcomings , but in this game he showed all along that his Eagles players have learned how to play as INDIVIDUALS —each responsible for a particular play function AND being able to think on their feet ( Harris!!, Sweat!!, TJ!! Maddox!! and the others!!!…..they are exciting capable smart players! hope I didn’t miss anybody! What a great game!! )

Let’s keep it real. QB is our liability against good competition. Hurts goes half the season without 200 passing yards in a game/ half the season without throwing passing TDs. Name a winning team Jalen Hurts has beat, you can’t. Draft MATT CORRAL 18TDs 1INT behind a clean pocket. Eagles OL = 2ND best PASS PROTECTION IN THE LEAGUE. Eagles passing game is BOTTOM TIER with GREAT WEAPONS that are open consistently thanks to Siriannis scheme & Dialing it up.

Love what Jalen is doing for my Eagles. I know its early in his career but his stats are in par with Donvan McNabbs stats in year 2. Jalen is a better runner than McNabb and just as good a passer. I wasnt ready to be all in on Jalen before the season started but I am ready now to say Jalen can be the QB for the birds for the next 5 or 10 years. He is a great leader he has the IT Factor. Now if we can build that defense to a top 5 defense and continue to grow on offense I see title run in the near future! Fly Eagles Fly.
