At Left Tackle, a Real Battle is Ahead | Eagles Insider

The Eagles have been fortunate since the 1990's to have their left tackle position fortified – first by Tra Thomas through 2008 and then by Jason Peters through 2019. In 2020, injuries threw the position into question, and now in 2021 the team is expecting a true Training Camp battle between Jordan Mailata and 2019 No. 1 draft pick Andre Dillard. Insider Dave Spadaro interviews both of them here as they size up what's ahead when camp begins.

We all know that the LT position is Jordan’s. Eagles just need to cross train both Jordan and Dillard at LT and RT

    Troy Darby

We don’t know anything with Dillard being a 1st rounder we need to see what he has. I’m not talking about that very small sample in his rookie season either.

@Troy Darby forreal. Ppl don’t understand how crucial that LT position. You gotta have good footwork/IQ as that’s usually where teams initially line up their best pass rusher. You can’t just give that to a guy that just started playing football

    Brittany Garrison

@Melijah Earl Guess you have been paying attention for the last 10 years.

The Project vs The Prospect….let the battle begin. Oh, the drama lol

Jordan Mailata wins hands down.

Who are the eagles trying to fool it’s Jordan,s job this battle is all about hype for talent exposure ! I am starting to get embarrassed for fanboy Spadaro.

👀I find it pretty ironic and funny how us as eagles fans. And as football fans are we seem to forget about Andre Dillard. Coming out of Washington. Huskies. He was the number one left tackle number one rated left tackle and pass coverage coming out the trash. And I find it funny how you can have aseason-ending injury and everybody just can forget about his first-round talent. What he did at Washington. And what he did so little by being just in the NFL. It was more mental for Andre Dillard I was told. So now that he had a year to get his body right and his mind right. I think Jordan mailata is in for a battle.I think this is a good problem for the eagles to have on the offensive line. Because the offensive line is an agent offensive line.

I think Mailata can be an all-time great with his raw tools, but don’t be surprised if a beefed-up, more polished Dillard wins the job.
