I am a Lions fan and want them to be successful . I have watched all of the Inside the Den episodes since they started. My one question though is, “is that all you hear the coaches say during practice?” I don’t hear any talk about specific techniques, what the player should be thinking, etc.” It is all “Good Job!” and “Let’s Go!” or “Come On!” Not very instructive. Is it giving away secrets to other teams when coaches are actually instructing fundamentals to players? Am I missing something?

    Andrew Taylor

Yea, we just don’t want to give away info to other teams thats why they don’t say much

    Nick Musso

Everything is definitely controlled and nothing is going to be given away if they can help it… especially with this series. Inside the Den is just a hype train to keep fans going until the season starts. If you watch their live practices (also on YouTube) they mute coaches and players when showing position/ individual group drills. However you can see them talking and addressing techniques and fundamentals. At this level everyone is big, strong and athletic. What separates players are their fundamentals, techniques, tools and repertoire. Trey Flowers loves to rush with a certain technique that involves a higher hand placement on the collar bone of OL. But if OL knows this going into a game, they will have the advantage and try to counter it. Same with WRs, they all have tendencies when running certain routes. DBs study their weekly match ups, learn their body language and play accordingly. At the end of the day it all comes down to situational football, knowing what is likely to happen and how to play that down or drive accordingly, which is what MP believes in. So the less info you can give your opponent the better. Some may call me stupid but I believe MP kept the defense simple after Stafford went down to hide his hand and not give away how we’d adjust/ play when the games really mattered. Not saying he lost on purpose but we had a lot of rookies playing because of injuries and his scheme is extremely difficult. Players don’t really specialize in his scheme and can be asked to play anywhere on the field given the situation. I think our defense is going to be immensely better this year. Not only because the young guns developed, learned and grew in the system but because no one knows what we are going to be throwing at them.

Charlie Richards

Patrica seem like a good dude

Imagine if matty p brings us to the playoffs this season and we get at least 1 win? People will change their mind on patricia real quick.

Kirby Dunebay

SHOULD HAVE PLAYED AGAINST THE DETROIT RAVENS SEMI-PRO TEAM!!!

RaW BOSS

Practice penalties more? Penalties and injuries are always the downfall of the Lions.

Jerry Nosowsky

As long as matty p. As nothing to do with the defense……it could only get better!

I saw one player wearing a #75 ( Lomas Brown ) , and another wearing a # 23 ( Mel Gray ) .
Those two numbers should be retired respectfully.

DinoStrike

The intro still gives me chils. Looks like an anime opening.
