Will Kenny Pickett start over Mitch Trubisky after a 2 Game Struggle? – FANTASY FOOTBALL FAN SITE
Salami

Anything to escape Captain Checkdown’s regime of 4 yards a play

Cardinal ™

They need to start him. Mitch is too panicked when under pressure. Can’t rollout like kyler and Lamar but Mitch tries to. Kenny probably could if he had to

    Josh Moats

@Cardinal ™ Mitch doe NOT have a good team around him though.

Steelers got rid of all their good players…who exactly is top tier on that offense? Diontae Johnson is ok but nothing special.

Najee Harris is serviceable at best…

Steelers only real quality players are on defense.

    Cardinal ™

@Josh Moats diontae claypool and pickens are an extremely good trio. najee can catch and get yards cuz he isn’t under a horrible o line when he catches the ball. muth is an extremely underrated player

Bilal Aslam

I have full faith in a QB whose last name is Pickett. They should also re-sign K Blewitt.

Brendan Lintz

Hopefully he does for the sake of all my fantasy teams with Diontae Johnson and Najee Harris

    Chee Nou Lo

    George Pickens too.

    Perry Ellis

    Right 🤣😂

    Josh Moats

Najee isn’t doing any better than Trubisky with his 2.9 yards a carry average.

    Louis Badial

    Lmfaooo

I don’t love the idea of picking a guy up, telling him he’s the starter, then giving up on him in three weeks — though I suppose Mitch’s 4 year history in the league should also be considered.

Also I totally disagree with this idea that you need to sit a rookie behind a vet for a year to “see how they go about their business.” If a guy is going to be irreparably demoralized because he had a bad rookie season, then he isn’t your franchise QB. These guys aren’t that soft.

    J Nim

the standard is the standard, and mitch ain’t meeting the standard…i think we should give him week 4 too and if it’s 2 more bad performances let him ride the bench the rest of the year

    FourthDownBack

Well to be fair, when he was the told he was the starter, Dewey was still alive (RIP). His death opened up a roster spot, and we didn’t think we would get Kenny. I’m sorry it’s a crap deal, but Colbert shouldn’t have dropped that match and left.

    Fishscale91

Give ‘em til mid season .

    B S

I wanted Mariota over Mitch. Dude would’ve been way better for this offense and his peak is way better than Mitch’s peak if we’re being real

    ted kiser

And if you sit a rookie behind a vet who hasn’t been that good instead of a hof vet what good is that

Alessandro Fabian

if they get blownout by the browns bench trubisky and fire Canada watching the game had me stressed and it was so winnable

Jermayne Harris

We need to hire Duce Staley as our OC next year!!

    Alley Oop !

    Hmmmm,interesting

    kita gilbert

    SOMEONE

    Prolly Chiefin

Duceeeeeee Love this idea. He’s been doing great things for Detroit, and he’s a former steeler

Dana Hettrick

Kenny will look just as good. -2 yard pass -4 yard run third and long shortfive yard pass.

Big-E

Mitch is missing reads, Najee is missing holes & Canada isn’t calling the right plays in the right moments. Too many things happening that needs sorted out. It’s week 3 & times ticking before the season really gets away from them.

    Kurt Janicki

His pre-snap reads & his read progression sucks …

    Fabian Moye

Idc what plays out there Canada is there for reason. The players have to execute better.

    Kyle Axis

Najee is missing the holes because they don’t come open until later after the snap. And unfortunately he doesn’t have time to be patient due to the O-Line not being all to good. He is a great running back and has Star potential and I’m truly excited to see where he goes, but the Steelers Offense needs to get it together.

SvpremesPrime

from watching the film mitchell panics under pressure. Every time he panics there ends up a being a reciver down the field wide open but because hes d=too scared he dumos it off. We saw how kenny handles pressure from pre sesason and college. Hes always looking to make a play. We need to see kenny in my opinion

Joey Martinez

Either way having Mitch as a back up isn’t bad though. Kenny’s time will come just hope his team is ready for him

Robert Congdon

I don’t have anything against Jamie, and maybe I’ll warm up to her as time goes on, but I really miss Kay Adams!

Haydn Norton

As a lifelong Steelers fan, I wanna see Pickett play some regular season snaps as much as the next guy, but HARDLY ANY of the dysfunction that has been plaguing the Steelers’ offence is the fault of Mitch Trubisky. The only legitimate criticism I have of him so far is the fact that he’s too conservative with the routes that he’s elected to pass to; I has limited the interceptions greatly and meant that he’s done very little wrong BUT it has all but eliminated explosive plays downfield from our game. There are two reasons for this: The O-Line is basically a five-piece turnstile, and MATT FRICKING CANADA arriving to call some of the worst plays known to mankind. The criticisms levied at Mitch are the exact same criticisms that people have had of Big Ben for the past few years, but now he’s retired and the only constant has been MATT CANADA. Until he goes, the Steelers will never achieve their potential. Also the defence being unable to make a sack without TJ Watt lining up is a big concern.

    Jim Jones

Yeah Mitch taking a sack when he could have easily thrown the out of bounds is not his fault 🙄

    Josh Howard

Mitch is not stepping up in clean pockets. He is back-pedaling. This puts no pressure on the defense. Canada has nothing to do with this, it is Mitch panicking and inability to read a defense. His athleticism is worthless if he’s gonna retreat every stinking play.

    Not Fake News

    you really don’t get it

    Haydn Norton

I’m not gonna disagree that Mitch panics under pressure. I’m not gonna deny that he’s missed some reads. But if anyone seriously think that throwing Pickett in there with a tough schedule of games to come is the solution they’re deluded. The reason why he panics so much is because he has no protection from the O-Line, and he only passes these stupid check downs like 90% of the time because of the scheming. That’s why Najee is averaging 2.9 or 3.9 yards a carry(I forget what number it was I read). But this offence looks no different to how it did last year with a Hall Of Famer under centre. The QB is not the problem plain and simple🤷‍♂️

    Gerry DiBatista

@Haydn Norton Maybe Haydn – but I think we deserve to find out if the QB change will make a difference.

Fryewalker

They will start him in week 6 or 7. Before the season, I was confident, that he would start around that time when Mitch wasn’t successful. And it seams like this is the current scenario.

Lu

Just watching this is annoying- Mitch absolutely stares down his targets, practically looking at Diontae from snap to throw on the ball that got picked… for other legit QBs it’s going thru progressions for Mitch it’s a progression. I think it’s an unspoken thing for the Steelers org (unlike the fans who very much vocalized it) that he’s got one more chance here vs Cleveland before Kenny gets a shot.

I won’t root for the guy to fail but I’m not even sure one solid game could convince me at this point after what he’s shown his whole NFL career… he’s too safe for an offense with this many skilled receivers.

vasantos2171

Real talk – go back and watch the film. Pickett and Warren were spectacular when they were on the field together. Everyone in that stadium said, “wow, we might have something special”. I say start him week 4 against the Jets.

Rev

Mitch plays like a backup QB. After Thursday, make him the back up.

Josh Howard

No…Tomlin lives in his own fears.

Harbaugh fired a OC in-season. Cowher cut a first round pick before his first season started, moved an all-pro safety in Carnell Lake to CB, and benched Kordell after two starts following a highly successful season. Tomlin won’t make the tough calls. He didn’t act on Bell or Brown until he was forced to. He is a good coach, but he has made few… if any… notable adjustments in his time as HC.

Ben Smith

almost every play has a man 15-20+ yards, the play calling might not be great but numerous times a player was open down field with no throw, thats the qb and O-line but multiple times there was time to throw to the deep receiver but no throw

Chris Courage

Something is definitely off watching Mitch play with the steelers compared to his past games with Chicago. While Mitch rarely played at very high level, he definitely had his moments and used to push the ball downfield much much much more compared to what he has done with the steelers these past few games. While he was never the most accurate, an okay amount of his long passes would land and if they didn’t, the threat of the long ball would open the field for Mitch to make big runs. I don’t know if he is playing scared or if he just isn’t syncing with the Canada offense. I am not a big Trubisky fan nor am I saying the problem is Canada. I can just see that something isn’t the same with how often he has been checking down. Maybe Trubisky needs to say “F” it and start throwing the ball downfield even if it’s risky or possibly not really the game plan.
