Will C.J. Spiller Snap Out of It?

Will C.J. Spiller Snap Out of It?

Nov 21, 2013

.
Buffalo Bills running back C.J. Spiller looked to have turned a corner in Week 9 when he ran for 116 yards on 12 carries against the Kansas City Chiefs’ formidable defense. He added a pair of receptions for 39 yards. His 155 total yards was something that he’d drop every couple of games this year. Unfortunately Spiller has just 448 total yards in his other nine games. That’s just 49.8 yards per game. Pathetic. As is Spiller’s single touchdown. That’s as many as Peyton Manning has on the ground.
.
Spiller has been bad, but he’s been dealing with an ankle injury and a revolving door at quarterback.
.
Those things should change coming out of the bye. Spiller hasn’t been listed on the injury report in his past couple of games. The bye week should allow him to come back at full strength. If he can regain his explosiveness, he could start living up to his draft position. Hey, better late than never. E.J. Manuel is back and gives the Bills stability at the quarterback position. If he can keep defenses honest, that should also help Spiller.
.
The Bills are averaging 4.1 yards per carry. The offensive line will have better days than they did against the New York Jets’ league-leading rush defense.
.
It shouldn’t take long for Spiller’s season to turn around. Coming out of the bye he faces the Atlanta Falcons.  Atlanta enters the week with 132.7 rushing yards allowed per game. Next is Tampa Bay, who is the one tough test with 101.4 yards allowed per game. Week 15 brings the Jacksonville Jaguars and their league-worst run defense. The Jags have allowed 139.1 yards and 1.5 touchdowns per game on the ground. They wrap the fantasy season up with the Miami Dolphins. They enter the week giving up 122.6 yards and a touchdown per game. If you play a full 17 games, the New England Patriots without Vince Wilfork and Jared Mayo is a favorable matchup.
.
Big days should lie ahead for C.J. Spiller. Don’t bail on him now.
