I didn’t like the pick initially b/c we had 10 wideouts already on the roster and was hoping for one of the available OL prospects, but there are several reasons I’ve come around:
1) Dolphins gave Erik a hard look: Welker had a personal workout with hm and gave him a VERY strong endorsement. In fact Grier/McDaniel joked at the press conference about how strongly Welker was pushing for him.
2) His athletecism- You can’t coach his size, or his speed for that size. Makes him a difficult matchup and will most definitely give the Dolphins a mismatch advantage against certain teams.
3) As coach McDaniel said, he’s a football player in a receivers’ body. He fights and wins the ball in the air, fights for YACs, and is known as a really good blocker. Something else that’s almost impossible to coach- the will/passion to play football. EZE’s (is that his nickname?) got that!

    After listening to that interview with Travis, you have to also love his character. He seems confident, but humble. He is well-mannered, articulate and, based on the comments about his mother, he clearly has a big heart. Finally, his desire to leave a legacy shows he has great ambition and it is obvious that he will strive to be the best he can be. All in all, I like the young man and look forward to seeing his progress. I’m a fan already.

    Mike B

    Thought we were set last year how did that workout you can never have enough wideouts

    Daven Storm

    Called him ” EZ “U” Can ” at Texas Tech .. can you imagine Waddle , and Hill and him and Gesicki . Wow!!!

    Sean Davis

    @Mike B Good point!

    Then there’s Cedric Wilson Jr, Mostert, and Chase Edmonds. There’s some crazy stat by NextGen Stats that pointed out that Chase Edmonds got to 15 mph on more reps (23.3%) than any other RB in the league, which speaks to his explosiveness. And according to NextGen Stats, Mostert is one of 2 players in the NFL who got up to 23 mph since 2016. The other player? Tyreek Hill. And when Cedric Wilson was targeted, the QB passer rating was a 134.8. Dude is a reliable alternative IF a defense is somehow miraculously defending every other option we have on the field. Phins Up!

This offense is going to be a nightmare to deal with. I was kind of hoping for OT or Center with that pick, but I’m gonna trust in Wes and Mike with their vision of this offense. If they think he’s someone they needed to pick, I’m happy to see how it turns out. Of course, bringing in guys to strengthen the OL is still a top priority. Hopefully Diesch can be a solid addition.

NSNBC

Surest pick we made. Tindall has crazy upside, this dude looks bust proof
