Why George Paton’s approach for Denver differs from previous hiring cycles in the NFL – FANTASY FOOTBALL FAN SITE
Siriuz Biz

here we go again, bring back some of those ole school roots Denver, anything less just won’t cut it…. some1 in the mold of Mike Tomlin perhaps,,Giving up Von Miller still sits wrong W/ me and STOP saying he’s only worth a third rounder later,,,lastly No Jimmy G in Denver geez

    James Babcock

    We got a 2nd and 3rd from von not just a 3rd

    Siriuz Biz

@James Babcock I know Bro but he speculated if wed continued w/ Von that later he would only be worth a round, to me Von was irreplaceable

    Rengoku Kyojuro

@Siriuz Biz that’s because Broncos fans have seen and know his worth, other teams see him as a legend but also as a 32 year old man who’s been suffering from recent injuries who will deteriorate soon. Every bronco knows he’s amazing but would we take a 32 year old linebacker from another team for anything more than that? If we did fans would call our managers idiots.

    Siriuz Biz

@Rengoku Kyojuro im just saying i miss ole school ball n the way “doing business” nowadays seems so shortsided, makes me think if it were Lyle Alzado or Karl Mecklenburg then the “managers” would revisit all this

    James Babcock

@Siriuz Biz I feel u. I think it was the right move. It was a contract year for von already plus if you look at the track record for players his age, more often than not there’s going to be a decline. Him playing with Aaron Donald is perfect for him tho because it allows him to get way more 1 on 1 matchups tho. Idk I just don’t think Von woulda been worth the money resigning him. Paton came up as a scout so I trust what drafting with the 2nd and 3rd rounder.

Take the chance on Hackett.. We’ve seen what Dan Quinn can do. Broncos need a offensive mind in the building

    its Toxic

Hackett’s resume is nowhere close to Quinn’s let’s get the guy we know is good

    Rengoku Kyojuro

@its Toxic How about we don’t get a defensive coach since they haven’t gotten us anywhere in years.

    David Burkart

Exactly why they are waiting for O’Connell. Leave no stone unturned, and then go for who you believe will offer the best chance to win.

Two out of three finalists are offensive coaches. They will need to see Quinn can bring the right offensive solutions before committing to him. If this were a formality, there would have been no second looks

    Max

@its Toxic Hiring a coach solely because of experience is not that great of an idea. Some of the great head coaches in the league are ones that had never head coached before.

    Tom Bosley

They took the chance!! Hackett to Denver!! LFG

Tom Bosley

The Von Miller trade may have not been the best for the Broncos, but they did right by Von and thats what matters. He deserves to be out there playing deep into January. So happy for him

    Steven Seal

@Rengoku Kyojuro it wasn’t the right move.. we are a QB away from being a team that can compete for chips ! Jags, Lions, Jets, and Texans are rebuilding . We have way to many good players to be in a rebuild

    Steven Seal

@Rengoku Kyojuro we should have kept him !

    Steven Seal

@Amy Bright bro we basically got a 3rd rounder for him! It will be the last damn pick in the draft! So what’s the chance that 3rd rounder will be anything close to Von is now or the next few years?

    Rengoku Kyojuro

@Steven Seal we already are and have been in a rebuild, our only remaining 2015 veterans were Miller and McManus and we have a young talented team, but having Miller here with no good qb was wasting his career, now we’ll have a very good team with whichever new QB we choose whether it’s Lock or someone else that could create a dynasty because our talent will last for probably a decade.

    Rengoku Kyojuro

@Steven Seal And it’s better to get a potentially good player than keep someone who could be retiring because his contract is too expensive to extend

jprezbronc

I think Hacket can be a great selling point for some free agent QB’s or great mentor for a rookie QB

Von is Bronco for life , but it’s a business and unfortunately with or without him denver would not have made postseason

Kevin O’Connell has to have a good shot considering there have been no offers to Hackett or Quinn yet. I think Paton would really like to meet with O’Connell again and see if he can push himself over the top.

    Heath Petersen

    Good take

Michael Lazzeri

Paton ABSOLUTELY did the right thing by trading Von. This team /organization desperately needed to move on from 2015 , & Von was the connection. he’s playing well , with vets around him, but I’ll take our young players, any day. ——–I respect # 58, but it was time & Paton made the right move.

No Aaron Rodgers

qwicxs

At least we have decent options. I like Hackett not for the obvious reasons. Just watch some You Tube videos of him.

Z Fouleur

I’d rather have O’Connell than Hackett or Quinn.

FlextimeGaming

I mean so far in George Paytons drafting we’ve seen him some hidden gems in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Maybe that is where we will find a potential QB (I’d rather wait) or Von Miller’s replacement

Mike Mike

I really think Chubb overrated, always hurt and his a bit slow. I Dnt see him constantly putting pressure.

    Bradley the bust

Toby Huff

Need a offense mind . No more dc

Yung J

Plz take anyone but Quinn plzzz😭

Huero Vidal

If Von is still doing great why not bring him back

Bobbyhillthe3rd

Aaron Donald probably learned a move or two from von miller and has less accolades. Don’t ever try and say von is benefiting from Donald

Christopher Nelson II

Well that went exactly how we thought it would 😂😂. Welcome new head coach Nathaniel Hackett everybody!!!
