@KuroKuma is the best – Their defense is absolutely terrible. Also, if Cleveland’s Offense is pretty awful to. I think Zappe is definitely good enough to keep the team rolling but the competition that Mac vs Zappe faced is little different. There is also sorting out the scheme of the offense. Our offensive scheme has been… questionable in the beginning of the season. They simplified the design the moment Mac went down, which is probably wise.

Old rule of thumb is this, if the starting QB was struggling prior to injury and the back up is doing well, stay with the hot hand. If he was balling out prior to injury go back to the starter.

Bill is too old school to give his drafted QB1βs position away. Neither of these kids have enough established pedigree to warrant such a radical change. Odds are if Mac is healthy he will ride out the rest of the year and if he canβt write the ship (and the offense plays as bad as it did those first three weeks) then Zappe will have a shot
I believe they should let Mac get 100% healthy before he comes back. He’ll get his chance to prove he deserves the starting job. He’s earned that much

What a great position to be in. 2 young good QB’s with a lot of upside. Zappe looks really good and Jones had a good rookie season. Keep both for now then trade the other once your certain who you want

@TBK1920 I’ll tell you this: upside isn’t about just arm strength. Things like processing, accuracy, mastering your system and being in full control….that attributes to upside. Ofc arm talent in terms of arm strength does help but it’s not a must

To be fair Zappe was CFBs leading passer, albeit in a weak conference but it shows he has some talent to throw the ball. Just smart pick by Belichick
Mac Jones lost to every good defense in 2021. He was overrated but the media gave him the benefit of the doubt. Fans waited for the fabled 2nd year leap but are disappointed. Zappe Hour is legit.
I’ve been rooting for this guy almost a year ago when he was in college bc I saw he was a projected late round draft pick and I wanted him really badly. Well I wanted Kenny Pickett but I knew he’d be gone soon, so Zappe Zappe Zappe!

Its really just too early to say anything either way. Zappe played well, but against some garbage defenses. The Bears aren’t a good team overall, but they do have a good pass defense. The Jets also have a good pass defense, and actually look like a good team now. If Zappe plays those games, and plays well, then I think you start leaning more towards just keeping him in there.
Zappe is doing everything Mac canβt, willingness to take deep shots, spreading the ball around. Better pocket awareness, better decision making and more confidence
More like the ability to make deep shots. Mac just underthrows his passes and they get picked off.
There’s no question that the team as a whole has been playing on a higher level with Zappe under center. Mac has got a target on him now. This is going to be interesting. βοΈπ
Question is do you really need two starting qbs now that Zappe has proved that he is a starting QB. Trade him. Sure there is alot of teams that need a good QB.

Much love to Zappe but Mac is still the starter all Zappe is doing is building his resume for a starting job somewhere else and that mad respect

Mac Jones will come back definitely on a short leash. He keeps throwing interceptions that hurt the outcome of the game more than once I think then Bill B will sit him down and play Zappe because now he knows that he has a backup that can jump in and give the Patriots a chance to keep going and not skip a beat or at the very least keep them in the fight.
