@Robert D. Fieler gave up a sack last year that got Herbert Shaken up. I hear you and I understand but he’s the weakest link without a doubt. I truly believe Salyer the rookie from Georgia would do better than him
They learned to charger like always. Gerald Everett was clearly gassed and clearly needed a breather. Brandon Staley said “no breathers today” and it costed them the game. This loss is on Brandon Staley and Joe Lombardi’s inconsistent offense. Too many dink and dunk passes. Not utilizing Herbert’s arm enough down the field

When Staley , said , ” going to build this offense around Justin ! ” And said , we are going to F#CKING throw the ball down the field ! ” Were – 5 yards BEHIND the line OR on the line ! Swing pass are great , BUT throw in FRONT of the line & lead the RB/ TE / WR , not get them KILLED ! Throw a slant , run some draws , DAM , hire me to come up some plays ? Can I SUCK any worst at that job !

@Dan Deitch 1st , Dan, I go back to those days, too ! Both Fouts & Brees say , ” this kid has them beat , badly ? ” OC , ” Swing Pass Joe ” , is the REAL problem on the offense side of the ball ! 24 points , for real ! Fouts could get that in just a QRT of play , not in 2 games , with the same score in each of them !
Don’t play up-tempo when you’re at the 3rd yard line on the road and need a score but can easily run! If you gas your own players you’re doing the defense’s job for them.
@E. A. Agreed, but Josh Kelly ran well enough. They couldn’t get 3 yards on 3 downs? That speaks more to me than going for it on fourth down. They aren’t running enough to get decent gains. There also weren’t any deep passes until it was too late!
And around 5 min’s left in the game ? Mahomes ONLY needs like 15 seconds , ask the Bills ?
@E. A. Joe is the OC , he makes these calls . Staley will not over ride him on them .

Don’t involve a tired TE that can’t keep up with the pace of the next play. The coaching staff needs to stay on top of substitutions. Blown opportunity to punch it in for 6. Can’t take it back now. What’s done is done. Learn from it, you so-called professionals.

Every time the Chargers took the ball away, the refs looked for any way to give it back to the Chiefs.
Refs helped Chargers too.
@bLoWc16 I’m not mad about the no huddle I’m mad at the play call. They should of ran on 1st n goal at the 3. Everette ran the route he was suppose to run. It’s called a stick concept. The thing is stick concepts are meant for zone coverage not man to man. That’s why it’s on Lombardi
@Larry Capoya that play was Herbert call wtf. It was obviously a two minute drill and is a play they clearly practice and should be an automatic. Herbert expected for Everette to just go an stop in the inside. It is a play to get some yards and not need Everett to run more.
@bLoWc16 whoever called the play is up for debate, but it was not a 2 minute drill it was just they wanted to keep the defense in that same personnel that’s the reason for the no huddle. Second no one ever calls plays intended to just go to one player there’s reads the QB makes pre snap and decides which matchup he’s going to take. He took Everette on a CB which is a good matchup but like everyone saw he was tired. My thing is they ran a stick concept which is meant to beat zone coverage not man coverage. Also Herbert threw that low and inside which isn’t really a bad throw but I would like for him to throw that pass high since Everette had the size advantage on the CB I hope everyone learns from this the bad thing is our qb is hurt now

So, unless our opponents “give us” the deep shots to stretch the field and take advantage of Herb’s arm, we’re going to play dink and dunk? I hope not.
They don’t try to throw deep , until they are down & ALL [ NFL ] teams know this fact ? Plus , some of these plays ARE the play called , no looking down field & right to the throw ? Funny , on , how they are running MORE play action fakes , BUT , NOT going down field ? Those ONLY work, if you do thrown some down field ?
The fact that we actually had 3 INTs again but they got called back is a positive. We are always around the ball…I look forward to the year.

The new players on this team learned that this is the “Charger Way”. It doesn’t matter who they have on their roster, they will always choke in big games, they will continue to waste HOF QB talent , they will continue to let down their fans year after year.

@Hank Bunyon chargers been my team, i know the point of view your coming from but We’ll experience the same old thing over and over if we keep having the same mentality that we’ll blow leads and shoot ourselves in the foot. Have a lil faith that this year we’ll get it going

A lot of controversial calls were made against us. Multiple picks reversed and that OPI that was called against Callahan was bad, but what was worse, had to be not letting Everett come off the field when he was clearly gassed. Think a little patience would have gotten us 6 there. Obviously Justin getting hurt is the worst part of it all. Hope he’s doing well. Its understanding for 1 or even 2 picks to be overturned, but 4?
Bolt Up
Once we made that big play to set up the 1st & goal they should’ve settled down and ran up a well thought out play instead of going tempo. They rushed it for no reason. The game was in our hands. That Pick 6 was preventable. We clearly were the better team, we just were doing too much.
Herby is such an Operator that despite Geralds mistake, he continued to go to him down the stretch on the following drives.
Setting aside all of Thursday’s missed opportunities, when the O-line starters are all on the field, Lombardi and Staley have to stretch the field more. Herb was throwing bombs, all the time, to Tyron Johnson and Gyton in his rookie season. It wasn’t until week 12 or 13, last season, when Lombardi and Staley went to Cincinnati with a deep ball game plan in mind.
That game was Classic Chargers. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory ✌🏼
On the road against one of the best teams in the league and the Chargers looked liked the better team for most of it. Chargers are a contender this year and will have a great season.

2 things: coaching staff needs to be aware or actually get a player out when he’s literally waving to be brought out( video clip showed Everett waving to the sideline for someone to come in). The other is a question….as good as Feiler is, is it time to give Salyer or Jaimes a start? When Jones went over Feiler, he beat him. Zion had him beat. Then Jones went to Feiler and beat him bad
Protecting Herbert is job one. Get backup 0 linemen that are good when needed. Without Herbert you can forget the season.
I love the aggresive calls going on 4th downs but I am convinced Staley is clueless when to go for it and when NOT to go for it!!!
Live and learn, get Herbert healthy, and keep this train moving!
