Panthers’ fan here. We can’t give up 217 yards on the ground and expect to win especially if our offense is starting slow. We cannot put our fate in the hands of the refs…smh!
Our starting QB can’t have a 37 QBR either.
Yet we did —-except for a couple of bad refs calls at the end .
Hey , I’m the first to admit the Panther D sucked and the offense sucked in the first half —but that doesn’t take one bit away from the fact that no way in hell was that a roughing the passer during the last minute . The refs also missed a blatant intentional grounding then too.
The Panthers played sloppily , the Browns played over their heads and STILL beat the Browns yesterday in all reality .
@Natasha Tomlinson Your very right calls like that back to back makes it feel like we were not supposed to win that game had nothing to do with skill or talent refs decided who wins in close games. Vegas beat the spread with that field goal.

@Leslie Harris I think he will. No one brings up the fact that Ja’Marr Chase was out of football for a full year before he got drafted and lit the NFL up as a rookie. Watson being a veteran should be able to shake it off quickly.

@Jfoster that game? You’re kidding right. They both literally did the the past couple years, and it showed yesterday. That’s what Baker was behind, and our great defense in the first 3qts, but blew coverages I’m the end. Baker still looked the same and is average, any average QB like Jacoby and Baker can win in a system like that.
Baker got us our first playoff win in 18 years too.
I like how “Baker is so emotional” is the line that the media keeps going with, but the on-field reporter kept saying how he was very calm and unemotional during the game.

@Kia Adams Sam Darnold is not capable of coming back from 20 in the 4th. Not even up for debate. Without a weak roughing the passer call and a clear intentional grounding call that was made then taken back…and a 58 yard FG. Should’ve played better in the first half but still major upgrade from Darnold. Joe Burrow had a miserable game Sunday, it happens. 17 game season,still early.

I’ll say this, if Ben McAdoo didn’t call the worst first half of football I’ve ever seen on offense we would have won. The browns pinned their ears back to go after Baker and McAdoo didn’t call any screens for CMC and only ran it like 3 times.
Rhule also did that stupid competition with Baker and Darnold which took valuable reps from Baker to build chemistry with his receivers which led to that int. One game into the season and I’m back on the fire Rhule wagon cause his terrible coaching and leadership with the staff cost us the game.
@S2l4T I’m not saying he’s the franchise qb for the next decade I’m just saying our coaches did a terrible job and that’s why we lost. I honestly think we’re gonna have another top ten pick, draft a qb, and have a new coach by next years
@Sly dude read the post. Bad calls play into it but that’s not what I’m talking about, I’m talking about Matt Rhule being the worst coach in the league and McAdoo calling the worst half of football ever. Like year there we’re back calls on both sides and 2 of them let the browns kick that field goal but I’m not saying “these refs are why we lost.” It’s our terrible college coach.

@James Murphy Yes Matt Rhule and mcadoo sucks but if you give both teams Rhule as the coach the browns should win. They were sitting on screens the whole beginning of the game they wanted screens and were expecting it. You can’t run screens if the defense is waiting for it.

Why is no one talking about how the browns didn’t actually “Drive” down the field. The new rule change was not implemented on the Burns roughing the passer call and for some reason Jacoby pump faking a spike is reason enough to throw the flag but not enough to make the call stand even though the rule is very clear there can be no other movement of the ball post snap other than to spike.
I get the Panthers cant put themselves in that position but we had the LEAD. They were backed up to their 25, with under a minute and no time outs. It is I’m possible to score there without a bomb play or a personal foul. The browns had lost before the two non sense calls. Sorry
@Ethan Bullins I’m not certain on the spike rule but the explanation the refs gave was this: “After discussion, we determined that stepping back does not disqualify the quarterback from spiking the ball and we allowed him to do that by rule,” 🤷♂🤷♂🤷♂
@ScottCleve33 yeah I guess they didn’t know that rule that you can make any type of move before spiking it. I mean I googled it and it’s plain as day. I watched Jacoby fake spike move back and then spike it for real. The refs messed up. York would have had to kick a 68 yarder or Jacoby would have had to throw a hail mary. I mean it really sealed the game for the browns.

What the official was saying is that just because he took a step back doesn’t mean he can’t still spike the ball to stop the clock so long as he immediately makes a continuous passing motion to directly in front of him.

@ScottCleve33 the NFL rules states that once ball is snap a player can not take a step back. By him looking to the side and take a step back it’s a penalty. Here is the NFL rule from there own site:Delayed Spike. A passer, after delaying his passing action for strategic purposes, is prohibited from throwing the ball to the ground in front of him, even though he is under no pressure from defensive rusher(s). Penalty: For intentional grounding: loss of down and 10 yards from the previous spot. Also because it was less than a minute there sound be a 10 second run off and at that time it was at 13 secs.

The only two positive plays Baker had all game were total gimmies by the Browns defense those were with by the Browns that any quarterback should have been able to take advantage of
Love the positivity for the Browns. Glad they beat Baker. Denzel Ward is my favorite player for the Browns, not Watson. I root for the whole team despite the choices made at the top.
I’ll root for Deshaun Watson when he takes the field too. Tired of the posturing and this idea that every person in the spotlight needs to be morally righteous. Been a Browns fan all my life and that isn’t changing, especially with all this talent on the field. You could point to every team in the league and make a list of players who have dirty laundry.

No one going to mention the controversial “Roughing the passer” call that got Cleveland 15 & 1st to line them up for that field goal? Even the announcers said that was a bad call! Cleveland was the better team and may have gotten there but let’s not leave that one out.

They used to have a show where a referee or one of the head guys from New York would come on and explain the controversial flags. Is that not a thing anymore? If so, why would they stop doing that? We all want an explanation.

Baker played ok overall. The two big plays came off defensive miscommunications but he made the most of it.

Panthers fans just seen what browns fans watched for 4 years, baker will have good and great moments followed by bad and headscratching ones, that’s why they moved on, you can’t count on him to be consistent
I love GMFB but it’s been hard to listen to you guys talk about my browns last five months but this segment was beautiful we have 52 other players that are great and worth rooting for
