Over his last five games, Davis has hauled in 20 catches for 400 yards and five touchdowns, helping lead the way for the 49ers five-game win streak. While he and his fantasy owners would love for his success to continue, his match-up this week against the Panthers might rain on everyone’s parade.
The Panthers pass defense allows an average of just 221 yards per game with just seven passing touchdowns allowed. However, if there’s a potential weakness in the armor, it’s that they rank just 17th against the tight end position and give up an average of 56.4 yards per game. Perhaps the addition of Mario Manningham can help stretch the field and Davis could exploit some of the potential holes in the middle. It’s a tough call as he is really a must-start, but you’ll likely have to hedge your expectations.
