Tom Telesco 2022 Draft Day 3 Recap Press Conference | LA Chargers – FANTASY FOOTBALL FAN SITE
Joe K

Who’s bright idea was it to not draft a Blazer in the speediest wr group in history???

    Mark Valencia

I like your take on the whole speed threat topic. Seems fair enough. I would say we have a balanced group of offensive weapons.

Definitely excited for our new O line and all the benefits it is going to reward all our weapons with.

    Freezo

@Taylor Quiroz guys like that Joe K just are so negative and have no positive thoughts or feelings , they come on YouTube and just spew nonsensical negativity and rupture every bit of good day I was attempting to have

    Joe K

@Freezo I am just looking at the rest of the playoff teams drafting a speedster while we dont yet we have the rarest QB arm strength in the NFL with likes of Allen and Mahomes. You are supposed to utilize your QBs strengths. Have a serious imposing deep threat puts fear in DBs heads that they have to worry about getting smoked deep. Which then allows other receivers underneath to get open. It helps all around. I never thought the picks made were bad in anyway they did well, just wish they got Herbert a speedster like the rest of the NFL

    Joe K

@Howard Strike they did well bolstering the O Line, added a nice RB2 and solid secondary depth. Having the deep threat as mentioned would seriously worry opposing DBs to not get beat deep which then allows crossers to get open as the safetys are pushed back. I like the team a lot and I just want them to utilize their rare QBs arm strength. Like imagine you are really good at something but you hardly get to use it?

    Yes

    Jay Da Will

    Got none of those unfortunately

We need another edge

Ryan Suter

Telesco is acting a little different than usual. Great sleep to you man you’ve earned it!!!!! Don’t have to earn sleep but you definitely did😃

Ryan Suter

DudeTelsco is the man! I like your comment about rushers in defense of end.

Ryan Suter

Flipping two sevens for six is a smart small detail but can pay big dividends

    Boltsup

So was it me or did he say that it was exactly the same pick that they had lost on the Khalil Mack trade?

    Jay Da Will

@Boltsup he got that pick back yes

Ivan Siney

Hoping we still pick up a sub 4.3 receiver

    Joe K

Yes. At this point it seems the management is BLIND!!! We have a QB of RARE ARM TALENT in the NFL with the likes of MAHOMES AND ALLEN yet no deep threat receiver was taken. How strange is that??? No one and I mean NO ONE is saying how are we going to stop Jalen Guyton this week??🤣🤣🤣

    Ryan Ansari

I know hes often hurt but will fuller on this team would be epic

Nuts N Bolts (Los Angeles Chargers)

Great job TT! Lots of intelligence and athleticism added in the class, Ficken should have some studs for ST. Interesting he mentioned the amount of players, I wonder which UDF will get camp invites. Finally, I would like to learn more about Jamal Davis, they keep mentioning him in passing but no depth.

Al Messinger

In TT we trust!

R C

While I trust TT and I know he’s a smart man who knows what he’s doing, his draft day strategy every year tells me something about him: I strongly feel he’s probably not that strong of a negotiator. Reason I say this is he always lets the draft come to him and you never see any movement. When you observe other teams, if there’s a guy they highly covet, they make sure to get THAT guy. There’s a lot of wheeling and dealing. Sure, they would have to trade away picks but good negotiators know how to acquire lost picks in another way. It seems as if TT sits back and hopes that the guys they want fall to them. If you look back at his best picks, the Chargers were lucky these guys fell to their laps because teams ahead of them didn’t need that type of player or picked someone else: Bosa, Derwin, Herbert, and Slater. And if you look at every pick he’s made since 2013, there are way more misses than hits especially in rounds 2++. Hopefully the picks we made helps us get closer to a SB. Bolt Up! ⚡️

    Joe K

I agree. not aggressive intra draft. they got jumped multiple times and had to settle with their position

    JEkawaiolaP14

I agree a little with that. But you have to take into consideration that TT drafts heavily in favor of the HC. He always drafts the guys the HC wants. So a lot of those later round misses weren’t necessarily all his fault.

    R C

@JEkawaiolaP14 Yeah I understand that too. But as fans, we don’t necessarily know if previous picks are ‘heavily’ in favor of previous HCs choices because they never reveal that information. It’s still TT’s and his scouting team’s job that does the hw on prospects to rank and find which players fit the HC’s vision. If anything, player development plays a big role too. All I’m saying is TT is just way more conservative on draft day than other GMs, therefore they probably end up with their “lower ranked player” because they didn’t make moves to get the guy they really wanted. It seems more evident in this draft based on their press cons. Unlike the Derwin, Herbert, and Slater draft…you can tell they were really excited because ‘their guy fell to them’ luckily.

    Raymond Flores

This is what i’ve been saying but chargers fans are blind. Rounds 2+ he just drafts “special teams” and seems like he just turns on auto pick lol

David Rupe

Great Draft!! Fantastic Job by TT and Coach Staley! Depth and Solid Players that are Solid People and Great Teamates….. The Ole Miss CB is gonna turn out to be Steal of the Draft 10.68 100m 39” Vert—- Best Corner in Canada in College and only 2 Yrs of American Football — Will Learn and Grow being in this DB Room and Quality Coaches….. Zander might just be a Fullback but I can see Him in the 4th Qtr when We have leads and Pounding Teams to Finish Games….,. And Btw — U would put up Our WR Group/Room against anyone else —

nsn

I really, really like this draft. Loved the intelligence and high character of all. Great potential.

Jason Pacific

Well I think most teams in the NFL would love to have our receiver roster. I think they’re still speed to pick up if we need it. But to thing speed is everything… all we have to do is look at the Raiders most of the last 20 years !! I’d rather have a sure-handed average speed receiver than a track star that drops half the passes😟

    Joe K

Please enlighten me on how the first round had most wrs drafted in history, and that players like jameson williams get traded up for? I’ll give you a hint.. these guys are going to get PAID 25m+ after their rookie deals you would need to draft them early before it eats salary cap. Thats why the chiefs moved on from Hill he was too expensive however they knew that a replacement this year was EXTREMELY likely with the speediest wideout group in history. Oh and Bill Belicheck went and got mac jones the fastest wr yet jones is not even close to herberts arm talent

Lyman Ellsworth

The team got a lot better this week. Great draft.

Urban Link Sports Ent.

Thank you TT for Spiller he truly didn’t belong there in that spot..

Urban Link Sports Ent.

There is still undrafted Wrs out there I mean we can take advantage if need be..Stack that practice squad to..New look Chargers on the way

Edward Rowland

I think with only having multiple picks in the back end of the draft Tom did about as good as he could. As he said there is still work to be done. What I have seen with Tom and Brandon is the multiple position player or diversity of a player they draft. This is a smart way to build a team with the benefit being a successful season.(That’s everyone’s hope anyway).

Raymond Flores

I’d give this draft a C grade. We have a big hole in the LB room and theres no speed in the receiver room

    DICK TRICKLE

I don’t think any team has ever filled all their needs in one draft. You ain’t going to be perfect at every position unless your the ’78 Steelers.

DICK TRICKLE

I wonder if other teams even bother proposing trade offers to Tommy boy? You know he ain’t movin
