If a QB goes out of the pocket, it’s legal to push all receivers to the ground, normal PI rules don’t apply, the only team that ever really under stood this was Seattle’s legion of doom. If more teams understood this Mahomes wouldn’t be able to run around until Tyreek of Kelce are open. Here’s the rule:
“Beyond the five-yard zone, if the player who receives the snap remains in the pocket with the ball, a defender cannot initiate contact with a receiver who is attempting to evade him. A defender may use his hands or arms only to defend or protect himself against impending contact caused by a receiver.”
So basically once the QB leaves the pocket a defender can do anything he wants.
