The Franchise Episode 8: Eatin’ Good | Presented by GEHA

Season 3, Episode 8: Now well into their 2022 season, the Kansas City Chiefs memorialize the late Robert Thomas with a special patch and ceremony. The father of legendary Chiefs linebacker Derrick Thomas, Robert Thomas was crew member on a B-52 Stratofortress in Operation Linebacker II. The Chiefs take on the Jacksonville Jaguars, and come away with a 27-17 victory as Carlos Dunlap notches his 100th career sack. Now in his thirteenth season, Dunlap reflects on his time in the league and the things he’s learned over his career. Then, the Chiefs’ offensive line meets on their day off to grab brunch together at KC’s Homesteader Cafe, an important ritual during a long season. Orlando Brown Jr. speaks on the importance of bonding to their success on the field. Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes prepare for an AFC West showdown with Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers, and the Chiefs come away with a signature comeback victory after three touchdowns by tight end Travis Kelce. Frank Clark and Justin Reid give back to their communities with thanksgiving week turkey drives, and the Chiefs take on Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams in a cross-conference test against the reigning Super Bowl Champs.

Mahomes and MVS and juju and skyy concoction is the best and when we get hardman and toney back 🔥

    Darrell McNair

    Don’t do Watson like that.

Zane Walsh

Travis has turned into the undisputed best TE there has ever been (and will likely ever be). He’s a MONSTER this year 💪🏼😈

sterling short

Orlando is such a nice guy

James Rowell (Jamer)

Still the best sports documentary series in existence. Nothing else remotely comes close.

    Jorge Martinez

I was happy when the last dance came out it covered everything. This doc series is so amazing how you wait after a few games you know one is going to pop up. I liked the series when they won their Super Bowl.

I cried the day Derrick died. One of my all time favorite Chiefs. A special human being with gifted football talent.

    Tom Ski

Same man, I recall the news breaking along with my heart. One of the greats gone too soon

Never cried for a sports / celebrity before in my life time but on that day .. I was bawling like a little girl. I am a girl, and I grew to know football and love the game by watching the 90s Chiefs. My absolute all time favorite was Derrick Thomas and Neil Smith. Those two lined up on each end was such a sight to behold crushing every QB in their sight. I had the special opportunity to see a Chiefs game in my home state that season he was in his accident. I was able to get his autograph along with 11 other players Tony Gonzales, and the great Warren Moon! He hugged me ! It was the best day ever for that 28 yr old girl. Then the tragic news cam the day after the super bowl.

    Tom Ski

@SouthernPioneer1965  I was 18 when it happened and even I shed a tear…..at first because the accident paralyzed him so his career was over, then the news that hee died from a blood clot breaking loose after surgery. Makes you certainly treasure the days you have.

If anyone hasn’t seen the Patrick Mahomes interview on Travis & Jason Kelce’s podcast, New Heights, check it out. It’s a lot of fun. You can watch it on the New Heights YouTube channel.

Gotta be my favorite episode so far…this entire series needs to win an espy, Emmy and an Oscar… this is epic 🙏🏾

M T

Orlando going out of his way to give props to the chef. Love that.

K Cook

New heights got me pumped for this!!!!!

Jordan Hall

I love me some chiefs football! But I think I love this whole organization even more- and that’s really saying something! So proud to call them “my team”!! ❤️💛

Jimmy Dean

I LOVE my team!!

Joshua Prock

I sure miss Derrick now…

spe sto

Feels great to see the o-line kicking it saying they do that on the regular. Come as teammates. Leave as family. I love my chiefs culture.

Murray

Carlos has been a really underrated pickup for us this year. Seems like a good dude, congrats on the hundo!!

Frog Farmer

Michael Monnig

SmileyTheAxolotl

This episode was amazing. Loved all of it. The tribute to Derrick Thomas and his father was special. Can’t wait for the next episode!

Xerosolar

As a younger Chiefs fan, thank you for talking about those legendary players that made the Chiefs who they are way back then, ton of respect for the legends of this team, I wish I could have seen them play <3

TMS

My childhood (sports) hero. Had the pleasure of meeting his son before the WC game in Houston and he was a stand up young man. What a special player.

Dan the Man

Phenomenal production.

Derrick Thomas was one of the best ever. It is so incredibly sad that he’s gone, because his death was so avoidable. (people: Wear. Your. Seat belts!…my dad nearly died when I was 9 because he didn’t have his seat belt on…still took him years to finally get it)

I’ll always be happy for any success Carlos Dunlap achieves. He was a great Bengal, and I’m glad he’s flourishing in KC.

Is there a more perfect match in the NFL than Patrick Mahomes & Andy Reid? They were _made_ for each other. It seems every NFL dynasty has an all-time great QB *and* an all-time great HC. As long as they’re both there, the Chiefs will be one of, if not THE, teams to beat in the AFC.

Can’t wait for Burrow vs Mahomes, Part III tomorrow!
