I remember being in 5th grade when he was drafted – sad they could never get it done over the years, but damn was he fun to watch. Gave his all to the state of Michigan for over a decade. Thanks for the memories Matthew!
Not a lions fan, but this made me tear up, I’ll be a Stafford fan for life, My principal was actually Staffords HS principal and he’s still friends with him today.

Matthew, you won me over your rookie year with that play vs Cleveland. You have been nothing but a class act. Greatest QB in Detroit Lions history. Been a Lions fan since mid 1960’s. Wishing you success with the Rams & hopefully someday you make it into the NFL HOF. You have been a ideal team mate & role model here in Detroit. Will be watching many Rams games this year cheering for you. Take care & hopefully at end of your great career Lions sign you for 1 day to retire a Detroit Lion.

From the time I could care about my home team, the lions, Number 9 has been under center. I’m 20 years old now tearing up because no one has meant more to me as a sports fan, and as a lions fan than Mathew Stafford. He played with heart, grit, tenacity, and courage. I couldn’t have asked for a more exciting player to watch growing up to make me love the game of football. Thank you, not goodbye number 9.
