It’s official that they drafting Kyle Pitts then cause no QB is gonna make a immediate impact off the bench

    The Unknown Gem

It might be a trick, we won’t know until the draft.

    Slimkidd730

@The Unknown Gem IT could be but too many people have called PItts. And even Smith wants PItts. He’s the best player in the draft and you have the opportunity to start winning ASAP.

Nick Westbrooks

drafting a TE at 4th overall, knowing matt is on his way out, while shopping Julio, knowing the Falcons are drafting a QB would be the dumbest, most Dimitroff thing ever.

Terry just came from a team that failed to address the QB position in terms of finding the next guy up, and his first pick is going to a TE? Lol

    Joshsmoove

@Nick Westbrooks never said they were franchise. They have a continuation plan which to me means they have something in place to get by with. They have a good game manager in Hill and a backup QB to come in case he gets injured. The Bears stuck with Trubisky for several seasons as the starter.

Anyway don’t you think it would be smart to have offensive weapons in place when whoever the QB is steps up? Julio won’t be around soon and who knows if they bring Hurst back. So in 2 years the falcons will need a offense in place for him.

Also to me it doesn’t make sense investing money into a 1st round QB to ride the bench for 2 seasons.

    Nick Westbrooks

@Joshsmoove it would be smart to have weapons. Would be smarter to have a franchise QB or dominant OL over a talented TE, any day.

Matt Ryan has a cap hit of newly $50M next year. There’s no way the team is going to carry that, so he’s either getting cut or traded. If they wanted him around long term they would’ve extended him, not restructured deal.

And drafting a QB after the first round and missing out on the 5th year option knowing your QB is going to sit makes even less sense. You get even less time on his rookie deal and you’d essentially be spending a pick on a backup. It really make no sense to pass on a QB unless the team doesn’t like them but to pass on a QB and OL for a TE, so you can try to outscore everybody to win games, what the falcons have done for the past decade is again, the most Thomas Dimitroff thing ever.

    Joshsmoove

@Nick Westbrooks I’d take the OL over an early QB since he would be an instant impact player and worth the money.

Matt Ryan contract dead cap would be worse next season after the restructure. Idk how we would be able to trade or cut him. They definitely don’t want him around for the long haul but I don’t expect any surprise decisions with him next season.

I wasn’t aware of the 5th year option caveat. That probably changes somethings then. I think drafting a great TE for the future sets up the team though. Its a tough situation and the team can really chose so many possibilities. It’s either OL, TE (if they trade Julio, QB if they don’t), QB (if Fields or Lance are available), or trade back to 9 (take a QB if one falls that far in fields/Lance or CB).

    Slimkidd730

@Nick Westbrooks Well thats the point which is where you’re wrong at. If ATL does take PITts they will automatically become SB Contenders. what team in the league can cover all that? ATL just picked up a top 3 D Coordinator who’s inheriting a no. 6 ranked run defense in the league. All Pees has to do is scheme on 3rd down with blitzing. ATL isn’t trading Julio and they’re taking PItts. Ryan said he wants to play into his 40s.

    Slimkidd730

@Nick Westbrooks “If they wanted him around long term they would’ve extended him, not restructured deal. ” THats why they gave him the deal. Thats exactly what the OLD REGIME was doing.t THis is a new regime. But they can’t trad ryan, its why they’re stuck with him and taking PItts.

andreas moustakas

we’re not trading julio

Nick bagnulo

If WE trade julio
I WILL BE IN A MOOD
not a good one

HOPEFULLY JUST TRADE BAIT

Nick bagnulo

If they do get lance or fields
USE THEM LIKE A TAYSOM hill?

U can even use PATTERSON or PITTS
if they get PITTS

Nate K

Damn, i want to pay a qb for 3 years top draft pick money on a cap strapped team to not play for me and pass on a generational megatron receiver

Jordon Yates

They can’t trade Julio. That’s literally the only move that would make 100% of the fan base angry. You can’t do that when you desperately need ticket sales. And on the football side if Arthur Smith wants the type of team he’s talked about, there’s no better model of that than Julio Jones. The man deserves to retire a Falcon with a ring on his finger. If we go on to win one without him while he’s still in the league it just wouldn’t be right.

Bryan Smith

Starters in are secondary, starting guard

JT121

Don’t trade Julio, Pitts, Julio and Ridley is going to be deadly.

julius jones

They just traded Julio so that means they will draft Kyle Pitts

    Rixchh Youngin

Whatchu talkin bout bro 😭they didn’t trade Julio 💀

Johnny Martinez

DON’T TRADE JULIO!

Good Looking Honkey

Imediate impact? Get a qb that actually wants to win
