@Stephen Powell When Cowher resigned did you ask that same question? Nobody had heard of Tomlin before he was hired by the Steelers.
There are plenty of Cowhers and Belichicks out there.

Cap issues, which the Steelers would have had even if Ben didn’t play this year. Quite a few starters left. and then quite a few starter injuries all season long. So a LOT of rooks playing starters trying a brand new set of plays from a new OC. But yeah. somehow that is all on Tomlin.

Tomlin had HOF caliber talent multiple times and still got beat.

@jw1 I’m a Steelers fan. And I have to agree with you. Far too many fair weather fans out there. Almost every time the Steelers lose a game they are all, ‘fire Tomlin’. and when they win with the same players, they are all, look how great Tomlin is for winning with having such little to work with. As if Noll, and Cowher never had losing seasons either.

Not really sure Ben belongs on that list at this point but he’s the best we have. I’d add Dionte and Muth to that list but other than that they are all expendable.

He didn’t “quit”. He was offered the job a week ago and accepted. The Steelers are simply letting him go early because he’s clearly useless

@Egorgian Baptist First off Cowher didn’t coach in the days of social media where it’s an entirely different world. And if he’s such a stern coach why was nothing done about the rap video incident. And while we’re at it how has AB done behavior wise since leaving? Multiple suspensions for being an idiot, multiple different teams. Almost like Tomlin did a great job keeping a lid on him for as long as he did. And boy let’s talk about how great Bell’s career has gone since leaving Pittsburgh. You’re making my points for me my friend. And no Steelers players weren’t doing tik toks under Cowher they were getting into fights at night clubs and before playoff games (Porter) or throwing their QB under the bus and calling him soft in media interviews (Ward) Refresh my memory what was done to Porter for being undisciplined enough to get ejected before a playoff game? Released? Suspended? Fined by the team? None of the above? The answer is……..none of the above

@Egorgian Baptist Old head? I’m 42 so not real old I just remember things as they happened not as I choose to remember them. And regardless of how prolific the Steelers offense was or wasn’t they were infinitely more talented than the Chargers or the Colts who they nearly lost to the next season.

@Egorgian Baptist All that is valid and don’t get me wrong I loved Cowher but it was his time to go and the same is true with Tomlin. I compare some fans talking about Cowher to the same situation with Michael Jordan. Growing up in the 90’s I was a huge MJ fan but to hear some people talk you’d think he never missed a big shot or lost a playoff series. MJ is the GOAT but he would have been destroyed on social media early in his career for not winning if it existed back then. Hell Lebron took an awful Cavs team to the finals and all people say is they were swept by the Spurs. Very few if any other player would have gotten that team there and for the record I can’t stand Lebron.
