Sources: Raiders won’t commit to coaches

Oakland Raiders owner Mark Davis is unwilling to give contract extensions to any of the team’s assistant coaches, league sources said.

Raiders coach Dennis Allen, who is nearing the completion of his second consecutive losing season in Oakland, approached Davis two weeks ago to request extensions for the majority of the assistant coaches with expiring contracts, sources said.

But Davis rejected the request, indicating that he is not ready to commit to any of his coaches — including Allen — for the 2014 season.

The Raiders, who have not had a winning season since 2002, enter Sunday’s game against the San Diego Chargers with a 4-10 record.

Oakland is 8-22 all-time under the 41-year-old Allen, the team’s seventh coach in the last 11 seasons.
