Joe Burrow ain’t Ben Roethlisberger. If they don’t keep the contain, Burrow can hurt them outside the pocket. If they worry about contain, he can hurt them from the pocket. The key might be penetration up the middle and DISCIPLINE on the outside. That discipline (and smarts) from our DEs is why KC’s DEs don’t have a ton of sacks. They don’t just pin their ears back. The interior D-Line is crushing pocket and the DEs are giving QBs nowhere to go. They’re one of very few teams out there who can send 4 against a Lamar Jackson or a Ryan Tannehill, without allowing them to scramble around..

I agree, though, that disrupting Burrow is the main chance. Even if his WRs are covered, they’re sort of open, but it takes a perfect pass. Chiefs will undoubtedly give them some 1-on-1 looks that Burrow can exploit, if he has time and room.

I don’t think EITHER team has faced quite the same threat array as the other team presents, although the Chargers look somewhat similar, and are better-built. There are some ways they can definitely put a hurt on KC, but they’ll need a few breaks and their home crowd to pull it off.

Cincy should try heavy sets, and see if they can run against KC’s base and throw out of max protect against their base. That’s a formula that’s worked a few times, starting with the Bucs in SB LV. They should/will also try spreading everything out against nickel and dime, to give Burrow some clear-cut 1-on-1s and try to sneak in the run against KC’s nickel and especially their dime, which seems to feature Ben Niemann…

I think KC will prevail, but it will be a stern test, especially if they catch a few bad breaks they must overcome. I just think the margin of error for the Bengals is too narrow for them to keep up on the scoreboard.
