With Stevan Ridley out of favor, Vereen is the de facto No. 1 RB for the Pats at this point, though he also plays a dual-threat role where he splits out wide and catches passes like a receiver on top of his backfield work. Those in PPR leagues don’t need to be told how valuable the 24-year-old back is going to be for their playoff runs; they’ve seen it already.
Vereen simply produces every week. He carried 10 times for a fairly meager 38 yards against Houston in Week 13, but remained useful — especially in PPR — with five catches for 37 yards and a score. All in all, he’s caught 21 balls in three weeks since returning from his wrist injury. That’s gettin’ it done.
