Sean McDermott Was Encouraged by 2020 Season & Fan Support | Buffalo Bills

Bills Head Coach Sean McDermott addresses the media at the end of the 2021 season following the Bills loss in the AFC Championship. Topics include: a general statement on his view of the season, the challenges of putting together a successful team during the COVID-19 pandemic, a reflection on Sunday’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, if he would’ve done anything different after the aforementioned loss to the Chiefs, how he feels the decision making process is around the organization, what he’s seen from Defensive Tackle Ed Oliver’s season outside of stats, an injury update on which players may need offseason surgery, taking confidence in Josh Allen’s willingness to “go back to work,” and how every year is a rebuilding year in a roundabout way.

Accomplishments:
Most total wins in a season since 1991-1992: 15-4 (in 1992 they also went 13-3, and won the divisional and conference championship)
Won the AFC East for the first time since 1995
Swept the whole division
Proved that they were here to stay as a superpower in the long run
Had multiple pro bowlers and all pros
Josh Allen broke every single major passing record for the franchise

Overall, they proved they were an elite team. We’ve seen teams like the 2017 Jags and Eagles and the 2016 cowboys who made it this far and accomplished greatness, and everyone thought that they were going to dominate for a while, only for them to slump big time. This feels different. We have a coaching staff and a front office who go hand in hand with one another. Players get along with each other. Buffalo is starting to become a place players WANT to be drafted to. Even if there are still a couple pieces to be added, or maybe we didn’t win the SB like we were primed to this year, we have hope. Now is our chance. We know what we need to do. So let’s do it again, but now let’s finally bring the Lombardi to Orchard Park, where it was supposed to be all those years go.

Big dollar beane and Sean will make the correct decisions Sean will see what he did correct this year and what he needs to improve. Brandon will look at the cap situation and make cuts or trades to get some good draft capital and make reasonable contracts plus he was able to persuade most of the team to take good contracts really good off season full of surprises.

This was the only positive thing that happened in 2020 for me. Buffalo Bills 4 life! Sean McDermott Coach of the Year!

Way to conservative – I don’t have another 27 years to get to the championship game, be a man coach and just admit you blew it! We needed the throw the kitchen sink at them – we choked. We digressed in the playoff games. Feel bad for Josh that he digressed too in the playoff games too.

Sean got so mad at that dude, I mean I’d be so annoyed too, but muted and unmuted mics are so flimsy sometimes

Couldn’t be prouder of my team. It’ll take a lot to overcome the chiefs but gotta lose to learn
