He’s deserves a lot of respect by fans, players and staff.

He was the bridge between the old generations and the new that are there now. Gonna miss seeing Koch punting for us. And that clutch QB when we need him. Enjoy retirement.

My Other Account

I’m sad he’s retiring, but I’m happy he is coming back to help out the new punter, and to help the special teams

Wow this is crazy he brought greatness onto someone else now that is amazing. I hope he has a great retirement May god bless him and his family.

Marcus Darden

If punters besides Ray Guy were elected into the hall, Sam should get a look

Fabian Duran

Troy

LAst time we had someone else punt the ball Jonathan Ogden and Adalius Thomas were on the team. Going to be weird seeing someone else punting and holding.

Sean Stand Up

My grandfather was a math teacher at the Naval Academy and I was born just outside of Annapolis. I moved when I was 7 and this year I turned 30. Sam Koch has been the punter of the Ravens for more than half of my life. I cried for Ray, Ed, T-Sizzle, Ngata, and so many more greats. I cried today when Sam retired. A easy first round HOF

In the military they talk about “force multipliers”–people or things which are not usually directly involved in combat operations, but which amplify the effectiveness of your combat units via indirect support. For 16 years, Koch has been the ultimate force multiplier for the Ravens, whether by pinning an opponent deep so the defense could create scoring chances of their own, slowly winning the battle of field position when our offense couldn’t get things going, putting down textbook hold after textbook hold for Justin Tucker, or picking up first downs himself via fakes (and even one memorable touchdown). He literally rewrote the book on NFL punting, incorporating different kicks & rotations on the ball to achieve the desired effects, and in the process became a weapon in his own right.

If Sam Koch isn’t worthy of induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, I don’t know who is.
