Gonna lay off the hate this time. He’s behind a better OL this year and hopefully better OC. I never root for our players to fail so I hope he plays well whenever he does get playing time. He’s on a short leash so he needs to make good use of it.

It’s not even hate. More of annoyance. Having a young talented defense on rookie contracts, CMAC, DJ Moore having to deal with a carousel of QB’s. We should have been in the wildcard hunt last year. Sam is who he is. No amount of hope will change that. He along with Rhule are two major things holding this org back but hey… let’s be good fans and cheer it on? Lol

@XD Gaming of course. The problem is, his best isn’t very good. Of course no one wants him to go out and perform as he has his entire NFL career. If he does well, we get more out of him as far as trade wise. But once again, the numbers show over and over again that he’s bad. We wouldn’t have drafted a qb, resigned Cam and are still in the market possibly for a vet QB.
with a better O-line, Sam should have a good year, it depends on how horrible the coaching will be.
And he Himself. Always gotta hold up his end of the offense

@Quentin HathcockI won’t disagree with being practical. QB market is the OPPOSITE of thin though due to that crazy couple of qb drafts putting the likes of Kyler. Herbert. Lamar. Mahomes. Allen etc in the league. More high level talent at QB then ever imo. When the likes of Derek carr and Russell Wilson were being shopped around. It’s QB surplus. Panthers just missed out this season. even if Corral turns out to be the gem and general panthers hope for, its a little much to expect Corral on day one, to be THE guy.

@MorsUmbra That was then and the panthers were in on every deal, though fell through; can’t cry over spilt milk, though glad we didn’t get Watson. The reality is we still got Sam and he will do ok. Support Sam he may do better than you think.

I’m A Jets Fan and still am hoping that he turns it around! That tells you all you need to know about how good of a person he truly is. If he turns it around this year, he will be one of the best QBs and win you guys a SB!
The Jets broke him. Too many new coaches, new systems, and zero protection. Then he comes to us and we don’t protect him. 🤷🏼♂️ David Carr syndrome. Great guy. Will be a really solid backup in this league. Not at that price tag though.
P.s. I’ve never wanted to be more wrong than I am on Sam. He truly seems like a good guy.

Carolina started out the season 3-0. We lost CMC and our starting center. We lost a ton of very close games after that, and Sam drove us down the field to score in the 4th quarter in most of those losses (Minnesota, Dallas, etc) The fans didn’t really start to get on him until the N.E. game. Where he was terrible. But he played with a concussion and a separated shoulder in that game, and you can see he clearly wasn’t himself. I have confidence in this season. And I have confidence in Sam. We had the worst offensive line in football. That’s changed. (Too bad Brady had to come back). But a wildcard spot is very possible. Good luck and let’s go Panthers.

Paradis was trash and the left side of the oline has been atrocious for years. But not everything can be blamed on that. There are less excuses this year for bad play. I’m just marinating and gonna sit back and see what comes out the oven.
All 3 of those teams didnt even sniff a wildcard game. They were some terrible teams. So thats no flex
It’s hard not to like this guy I really hope with a better Oline he can start to put things together. He’s never had time to just sit back and learn to play and that is with the Panthers and the Jets. If he can’t we do still have hope with Corral.

Hard not to feel sorry for Darnold. He’s in year 5 and has already played in 4 different systems. OLine needs to protect QB and clear some running lanes for the RB’s. TE will play a more prominent role in the passing game under McAdoo. I think this team will surprise fans and experts alike this season. #KeepPounding
I like the way Fitterer blames Darnold for the offensive line being 31st in the league and HIS receivers dropping 28 balls, second in the league, many on 3rd down killing drives. Its Darnold’s fault that the tailback missed 14 games as well. Nothing like scapegoating. Take ownership Rhule and Fitterer. You set up Sam to fail. Fired his OC as well during the season!!!
He had a tough time at USC with little help.
He had a bad time in New York with no offensive line.
He’s had a shaky start with the Panthers and some was his fault some wasn’t.
I don’t want him to do bad, I just want him to make reasonable plays if he does end up taking us through the entire year.
Personally I think another QB wearing Number 1 is our best fit.
