Saints Draft Pick Pete Werner 1st Interview | 2021 NFL Draft

New Orleans Saints select Ohio State Buckeyes linebacker Pete Werner 1st interview as a Saints after being drafted in Round 2 of the 2021 NFL Draft with the No. 60 overall draft pick.

Ohio State Overview
• Will graduate this spring with his degree in real estate and urban analysis
• A three-time academic all-Big Ten honoree
• Two-time all-Big Ten Conference honoree including third-team honors in 2020
• Among the team leaders in tackles in each of his final three seasons
• Played in 47 games as a Buckeye and started 35 times at linebacker
• Led the Buckeyes with 54 tackles in 2020
• Second on the team in tackles in 2019 with 64
• Earned a starting assignment at linebacker as a sophomore in 2018 and started 13 games for the Big Ten and Rose Bowl champion Buckeyes while playing in all 14 games
• Was fourth on the team with 58 total tackles in 2018 and added 7.5 tackles-for-loss, 3.0 sacks, two forced fumbles and seven pass breakups
• Totalled 185 career tackles with 16.0 TFLs and 4.0 quarterback sacks
• Also recorded 11 PBUs, forced four fumbles and had two fumble recoveries

• Among the Top 300 players nationally by both Scout and 247Sports and among the Top 20 outside linebackers
• Was a first-team Associated Press Class 6A all-state pick as a senior for a Cathedral team that went 7-5 and advanced to the regional finals
• Missed three games because of an injury, but recorded 64 tackles, including 17 tackles-for-loss and eight quarterback sacks, and finished third for Indianapolis Star Mr. Football honors
• Earned top linebacker award in the state by the Indianapolis Star
• Rated as the No. 1 outside linebacker in the Midwest by Scout and a PrepStar all-Midwest region honoree
