Helu could see increased work for the remainder of the season, as Kirk Cousins is likely to replace Robert Griffin III under center. The Redskins should run more and use the screen game far more effectively with the less mobile Cousins at quarterback.
Helu’s touches have been inconsistent this season, as has his productivity. He has had one or two big games, but with 5-10 touches per contest, it is tough to expect much out of him. He is a better receiver than starter Alfred Morris, but Morris has rushed for 1,000 yards in consecutive seasons and remains the bona fide No. 1 back. Even with an extra couple of opportunities, though, Helu’s statistics should still remain limited.
