@Jan Nelle I think they added the third wild card so that a team with a good record in tough division wouldn’t miss the playoffs while a bad team in a bad division does make the playoffs, so that was an improvement. What I think they need to do now is still give an automatic birth to division winners but assign seeding and home field based on record. Might not be perfect but would be better.

@Isaiah Pinal have you seen the nfc standings? an entire division can not make the playoffs. and each division has one team guaranteed. that leaves bears saints rams cardinals and 49ers fighting for 2 spots, with 49ers at the bottom of that list in standings. maybe miamis percentage is too high, i dont know i havent looked into the afc, but the 49ers prediction is spot on
